    Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gunter. First impressions are how you are greeted as guests - Derek at the door and took care of making sure we got into our room - handled all our belongings - perfect welcome!! Derek is truly one of your prized assets!!

    -Check-in was fast, Platinum stats was recognized. Charcuterie board was in room. Thanks-!-Room: This is one reason for a 3 “dot” review. Only seating in the room is a “bean” shaped couch in a position where the TV cannot be watched comfortably. The room lights are over-sensored. It was like going on an Easter Egg hunt trying to figure out how to turn off. Electrical outlets, none near the couch, you need a 6 foot extension cord to reach the couch. 21st century hot pot for teabag coffee was broken.. Bathroom is small, vanity only has room for 1 person’s items.-Food: Very disappointing. Jots is the full-service restaurant that this property really needed, however at the start of dinner service on the Saturday of a holiday weekend 3 out of 6 entrees were not available. We went across the street. French Baguette cafe—good food and service but if you are going to promote a venue as being in the hotel you should be able to charge to the room. Bar 414 is still a great bar with live music-a plus that needed no renovation!-No business center.-Parking: Valet is $59 a night, about the same as any other full-service hotel in downtown San Antonio. Come on folks-if you didn’t know the parking charge you didn’t do your due diligence.Overall, go ahead and stay here.     A wonderfully appointed hotel convenient to everything you would want to do with n San Antonio. But the staff is the crown jewel of this hotel. Everyone was amazing but Joel the bell hop embodied a joyful energy and a desire to make us feel welcome and appreciated that set the bar for everyone else . We will definitely make this our primary location every time we visit.

    The history is off the charts with robert Johnson. The locations is a bit deceptive. It’s a fair walk to the actual river walk. But it’s nice.

    My husband and I visited the Gunter hotel for our 20 year wedding anniversary and we had an amazing experience from the time we checked in until the day we left. The entire staff is so welcoming and provided the best hospitality but I would like to give a special thank you to Amber for setting the tone for our experience at the hotel. My husband and I will definitely return to stay here again.
