    Not up to the Hyatt standard; we checked in and checked out a few hours later. The experience was bizarre from the first encounter. Check-in has been displaced to the theater during renovations, and it is a clusterf*ck. Very long line with no separation from Globalists or loyalty members. Customer service severely lacking—they made no effort to accommodate our request for adjoining rooms and ended up putting us in two completely separated rooms for a family of five (two adults, three children). Rooms are super outdated and the whole property has a definite timeshare/retirement home vibe. Yes, there are water slides, but think Sunsplash water park, not high end resort. Even as Hyatt Globalists, we checked out and went outside of Hyatt for the rest of our stay in the area. Will not be returning to this property.

    Relaxing getaway 35 mins north of San Diego

    Nestled in a rocky mountainous area in San Diego, the Welk Resort offers a unique experience. I had the pleasure of staying here for a four-day, three-night stay.While some parts of the resort are undergoing renovations, which may result in some noise, the rooms and the entire property exude a sense of history. Lawrence Welk, a renowned musician, purchased the resort back in the day, and it still retains its charm.However, be aware that the Wi-Fi connectivity may not be the best. If you’re planning to hold meetings, it might be challenging. The area where the resort conducts its timeshare sales pitches practically has no Wi-Fi. I personally attended a sales pitch meeting and, after the session, couldn’t contact my family to arrange a pickup. The sales office is located further away from most of the rooms, making it inconvenient.Despite the older age of the rooms, they are clean, efficient, and well-maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They primarily communicate with guests through text messages, providing assistance with house cleaning or maintenance requests.One minor inconvenience was the malfunctioning TV in my main bedroom. I contacted the resort via text the next morning, and they promptly arrived to fix it.The resort is also a great option for young families. I noticed many children playing in the pool throughout the day and night, which can be quite lively.Inside each unit, you’ll find everything you need to prepare breakfast and other family meals. The resort provides dish soap, dishwasher soap, sponges, trash bags, and sufficient cooking utensils for light cooking.While I didn’t have the opportunity to explore the resort’s amenities, including the pool area and other attractions, I spent most of my time visiting San Diego’s downtown Little Italy, Gaslamp Quarter, and La Jolla. The drive to most of these attractions takes at least 35 minutes.Despite the limited time I had, the Welk Resort offered a relaxing escape with its stunning mountainous scenery, providing a soothing and rejuvenating getaway.     OK, I feel like the reviews are very mixed for this place, so here I am with the MOST RECENT review on this resort. My family and I stayed here just a few days ago and I don't have much complaints. It was a good trip. We checked in with ease, and had received great service. This resort is very quiet and comes with one sit down restaurant that is nothing extraordinary, but good for a quick bite. We had received a schedule for the entire week of things that were going on at certain times, and I found there to be a lot of options for all sorts of things there. Pickleball lessons and tournaments, trivia nights, etc. The resort has 2 nice golf courses, foot golf and disc golf. There are plenty of pools and recreational centers as well, one which includes a nice gym, which is nice. So, lots of things to do at this resort. If I'm being honest, the location isn't GREAT. It's about a 15-20 minute drive if you want to go anywhere outside of the place which isn't horrible, but sometimes just annoying. We stayed in an older 2 bedroom villa which includes 3 beds in total. The rooms with more than one bed here are very big and spacious, private, but are outdated, in my opinion. It's a more of a 1980's tuscan vibe if that's what you like. The cleanliness of the room was top notch, and I noticed there was little to no wear and tear. Room had a nice but small washer/dryer and a spacious kitchen.Overall, this spot is a good location, and has taken reviews from the past into account. I would come back.     Don’t got to the Welk - terrible location

    This was one of the worst lodging experiences I’ve had. So poor I checked out early and went to another hotel. If it weren’t for the very friendly staff I would have rated 1 star. Property is very poorly maintained. Only 3 outlets in the room would hold a plug, all of the wall outlets the plug would simply fall out. The shower faucet was so loose it was difficult to turn on/off, hot water took over 3min to come out. The toilet paper holder was mounted so close that when you sit down you knock the paper off the holder. The operating hours for restaurants and shops were not practical, 11am opening time for the market - the only place to get coffee. Most of the food and beverage services closed by 8pm. Booked a golf course view room - only the parking lot had a view of the fairways, the room faced the road.     We stayed at the Welk for 2 weeks. It is a beautiful, well cared for property. Beautiful pools and many amenities. We're not golfer's, but the golf course looked excellent. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely be back.
