Hotel near the highway and good for dogs!

    rating02 Dec 2025

We chose this location as a halfway overnight stopover point, while driving from CT to NC after Thanksgiving. We also chose it because it was dog friendly (though the $75 fee is pretty steep for our 12 lb dog!) and that it was adjacent to a Wegman's for food, and a big shopping area. It was a very good hotel - the room was upgraded, the bed comfortable, the bathroom spacious and everything was clean. The check in process was easy and our dog even got a goodie bag! I would stay here again. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars, is that I reserve those ratings for really fancy hotels!

They have definitely lost my business

    rating08 Oct 2025

I stayed for 3 nights and would give it n average rating. The place was clean for the most part except the carpet in the hallway was filthy and the wallpaper in my room was peeling. It definitely felt like a motel. The customer service needs work. Once, went to purchase a snack from their store. There were two employees behind the desk. They both left and went in the back. I stood for over 5 mins waiting for one to return so I could make my purchase. If you see a guest about to make a purchase, why not have at least one person be at the front desk to ensure the guest is charged properly? Also, and most annoying, I asked the lady the day before about a late check out and she said it should not be a problem because the hotel was not full and I only needed to less than an hour longer. She said to call the front desk know the next morning. Unfortunately, the next morning the man at the front desk refused to accommodate my request for a 40 mins. Late check out. Not because the hotel was full. Not because housekeeping needed extra time in the room. Housekeeping actually didn’t have an issue with the extra time. Simply because that’s “not the policy of management.” They actually charged me $25 on my final receipt for checking out at 12:40pm. I travel extensively and I have NEVER been charged a late check out fee! This hotel has lost my business completely. I will NEVER stay there again. Hilton needs to do better. Marriott would never! This Hampton Inn lost my business and my company’s business over $25.

    Great Hotel

    rating02 Sept 2025

We enjoyed a wonderful 4-night stay at Hampton Inn & Suites Glenarden/Washington DC. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Although I initially couldn’t secure a ground floor room when booking, upon arrival, they upgraded us to a ground floor room as requested, which was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast offered a great variety, and the coffee stood out as superior to what’s typically found at hotel breakfast bars. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the hotel grounds were beautifully maintained, reflecting the management’s keen attention to detail. Junior and another helpful staff member (whose name escapes me) were outstanding and made everything effortless. When I needed to extend our stay by one night, they ensured we could remain in the same room. While one desk staff couldn’t accommodate this request, I simply waited for the gentlemen to return and asked again, and the issue was promptly resolved.

Some pluses, but room issues knock down the rating.

    rating19 Aug 2025

I was disappointed in our stay at this location. I have never had a bad experience with Hampton Inns, but I must say this one is lacking. Pros are - a good hot breakfast, free parking for DC area, and great customer service. But the following room 423 issues during our 2 night stay superseded the pros:1 - Smell - we had to buy spray to cover the "foot" odor in the room (tolerable so I did not make the complaint to the front desk).2 - Bathroom door - these are barn-style doors that slide between bathroom and closet, but there is no latch or lock to hold the door in place and would slowly slide open when in the bathroom (even with family, this is not ideal with 2 adults and 2 teens). Addressed this with the front desk, they adjusted promptly, and it mostly stayed closed, but 2 hardware pieces of the door fell off afterwards.3 - Towels - we were only provided with 3 bath towels even though I booked the room for 4 guests. Requested more, but none available at request. Made a 2nd request later and still never received any additional towels.4- WiFi - absolutely NO signal in the room. When trying to connect, it just spins on any device (iphones, iPads, laptops). It connected in the halls and lobby, but would drop every time we entered the room. Again, tolerable as we were out mostly, but the times I had work and kids had homework, we had to go to the lobby to accomplish anything.OVERALL - cleanliness and friendliness was great, but the room issues made this just a 3-star for this stay.
