Big rooms and easy stroll to sights.

Big and bold!!! It’s like a hotel in DCs capital building. Huge rooms and short stroll to everyone…Just don’t dive into the pool…it’s freezing!!!

    Great pool location in Berat!

    rating30 Aug 2026

We chose Hotel Columbo for a one-night stay in Berat, drawn in by the striking building and the pool. Check-in was quick and easy, though the front desk staff could have been friendlier. The pool was the clear highlight, really lovely, and the location is central clos to the main strip. The rooms were spacious but dated with a nice modern bathroom. Breakfast had a great selection and was genuinely good. On-site parking was a bonus, and the red carpet entrance made for a beautiful first impression.Tip: if you’re staying here, skip the hotel restaurant and head over the bridge to The Arch Organic Kitchen instead, well worth it.

    It’s all a bit weird

    rating17 Jun 2026

When you first see the hotel, it looks completely out of place, like a weird mashup between the White House and Congress. That’s just the start of the weirdness. When you get inside, you can immediately tell that it’s younger and you think it is, but it’s a weird mix of what looks like Soviet décor and a budget hotel. You have this massive grand entrance hall yet a fairly non-descript reception desk tucked in a corner. The room corridors are absolutely massive in width laid out with large rugs which don’t quite fit so have been in-filled and are thread bare in places. The room itself has an abundance vertical height, but the floor space was relatively tight. All the furniture was a good appearance, although did look like IKEA flat pack, and the room was immaculately clean. The bathroom equally didn’t quite look like the age of the hotel, but again was clean with a powerful and hot shower.Somewhat disappointingly the use of the outdoor pool was an additional €5 charge. The pool area is absolutely gorgeous and the highlight of the hotel, although to reach that area you have to walk down a faded and thread bare red carpet. In the Bar area, the staff were absolutely lovely and there are ample sun loungers.Breakfast was okay, again a bit weird. We heard a mixture of stories as to how the hotel came into existence, bearing between it having been built as a university, built as a Children’s Hospital or originally built as a hotel. All of them are believable and none of them quite work. All in all one of the weirdest hotels I’ve ever stayed in yet is absolutely not trying to be weird.

    Sumptuous hotel in Berat!

    rating04 May 2026

Berat is beautiful! Well worth a visit. Fabulous hotel with red carpet running up to the entrance! We were on the first floor, so didn't have to worry about queueing for the lift! The room was very comfortable - with a kettle too, which was a bonus. Very good shower.Good breakfast with a lot of choice.
