Lets the Melia brand down badly

This hotel really lets the Melia brand down. The staff are lovely but the quality of the hotel is dreadful. Even when food is brought out to the hot plates it is, at best, tepid & more often cold. It is a cultural issue- Albanians here say they don’t eat hot food so you have to use the microwave in the main restaurant if you want your food hot. There is never stuff available- no wine glasses or no spoons or no bowls, no coffee cups. Often all of these at the same time- either the dishwasher does not work or the pot washer or both! One night only paper cups were available for ALL drinks, hot & cold. Insufficient staffing at the pool bar & the lobby bar means that you queue for every drink. Very limited choice of alcohol on the all-inclusive option- house red, white & rose. Just one beer & mainly local spirits- although, depending on the bartender, you can sometimes have Gordon’s Gin, Grey Goose Vodka or Johnny Walker’s Whisky. However, some refuse to serve this but others do. We have 2 more days of a 7-day holiday & are tired of having to find work arounds or jerry-rigging things to make the holiday seem “normal” like eating porridge from a coffee cup because there are no bowls forthcoming & having to microwave it because it is cold. My advice is to avoid this hotel like the plague. We are not by nature complainers and complaining here has not resulted in significant changes because loads of people are moaning but nothing improves. At least the weather has been good but we both just want to go home. Buyer Beware!

The only reason this review has 5 stars is because of the bartender Kevin. Amazing, friendly, always smiling guy. Making fantastic drinks and good laughs, even some good life advice. This guy is the only reason why i would come back to this hotel. He really likes what he does and should be honored in hes work. Thank you Kevin for the amazing drinks and laughs we shared together and i wish you all the best in the future. May we meet again to enjoy more laughs and drinks together my friend.Now to the hotel. I would give 3 stars.The rooms and hotel overall is clean and nice looking. Great place with a lovely private beach. Sadly there are some very big minusses. Like the food, in the 9 days i was here i had only 2 meals that were actually warm, the rest was luke warm. The chicken and the pork (which i tried everyday in the hope it would get better) was always dry like the sahara desert. The "snacks" at the pool are probably from the evening before and tasted old, dry and cold. The music at the pool was sometimes deafeningly loud.What also shocked me was that the "all inclusive" wasnt a all inclusive experience and where there things you still had to pay for, like some alcoholic beverages, 1 of the 2 pools they have and the italian restaurant. Its all made clear by the staff that its not part of the all inclusive which is nice, but still not all inclusive in my eyes. Its more like a full pension.Overal if you can accept these things, the minusses, which luckily me and my wife are very capable of doing, its a nice, enjoyable, (in my eyes) not TO expensive hotel. Lastly,If you go to albania to see the beautiful places of this country, go to the south of albania and dont stay in this hotel. Its a 3 hours drive towards the beautiful lakes and views of the mountains. For example the blue eye, the blue waters at the beaches in saranda and the old castles.

Daniel and King very good bartenders nothing too much trouble, Albano does very good stretching and aqua aerobics in the day and card games. all staff very lovely and happy. very good vibe.

This hotel was amazing great entertainment and all the staff were lovely. The bartenders Daniel & King were particularly great, they were fast & always were happy and helped us lots. Albano hosted great aqua Aerobic class, and his stretching classes really helped and were so informative. Lovely guy !!
