  Shocking overbooking, nonexistent management - don’t go!

  I booked a 6-night stay (Sept 8–14) at Hotel Saranda Butrinti via the Meliá app back in June. When my friend and I arrived around 8 PM on September 8th, we were hit with a massive shock: the front desk informed us they were overbooked and could only accommodate us for 2 nights.According to the receptionist, they changed their booking system in August, and "this had happened to a lot of customers." It is completely unacceptable for a hotel to upgrade its system without cross-checking that existing reservations transferred over properly. The receptionist was confused—first saying she had our booking, then saying she didn't, before finally taking a photo of the confirmation on my phone app.No manager was available that evening. We had to call Meliá customer support ourselves (Alexandra on the support team was wonderful, but she was fighting a battle the hotel manager should have handled). Reception offered to move us to another hotel while letting us use facilities here, but refused to give us clear details so we could research the alternative first. We agreed to speak with the manager the next morning.The management at this property is an absolute disgrace: 9:00 AM: Went to speak with the manager—not available. 9:45 AM: Returned to reception—still not available. 12:00 PM: Finally spoke to the manager. She promised a resolution and a call back by 2:00–3:00 PM. 5:15 PM: After waiting around all day by the pool and our phone, we walked past reception only to be flagged down and told we had to pack up and move to the Grand Hotel. No one bothered to call us as promised.We asked to move that evening instead, as we had a day trip booked for the following day and didn't want to waste precious holiday time packing, checking out, and relocating in the morning. They refused as apparently no room was available at the alternative. As a result, I lost another entire day of my holiday and had to cancel my plans to accommodate this issue. The manager completely abandoned her staff, leaving front desk clerks to deal with furious guests. While waiting, other travelers were at reception facing the exact same issue with Meliá bookings—this was not an isolated incident.To top it off, the replacement offered—Grand Hotel— is not an "equivalent" alternative. Save yourself the stress and money. The lack of accountability, dreadful management, and total failure of their booking system completely messed up three days of our trip. I’ve stayed with plenty of Meliá Hotels and never been disappointed so I don’t know why Meliá wants to be affiliated with this hotel, it will definitely do nothing but harm to their reputation. Sure, we got the two nights for free to stay here but we also had to pay almost the exact same amount to stay at an inferior hotel and using the facilities at HB only accounts for so much as the gym is trash, water pressure hit and miss, room is tiny and the breakfast isn’t very good but the pool is decent if you can get a sunlounger on the sunny side of the area.

  240€ for a small room?!

  Its was only bc of the price. The suite was 280€ per 2 people but we got the normal room that was 240€. Room was kinda small.For a hotel in Saranda novery good. It was clean tho. If ur ever coming to saranda i dont recommend this hotel

  Awesome trip to Sarande

  We had a fantastic stay at this hotel and would happily return. The highlight was definitely the staff, who were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming throughout our visit. A special thank you to Mel, Jenny, and Nalda at reception, as well as Anna at breakfast. They were all incredibly polite, helpful, and always went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. Thank you! And I wish you the utmost best in your careers. Our Junior Sea View Suite was great, comfortable, and offered an amazing view of the sea. Waking up to that view every morning was a real treat.The location is excellent, right by the promenade and within easy walking distance of restaurants, and the waterfront, making it the perfect base for exploring Sarandë.The only minor downside was that it could be a little noisy at night due to the lively area, but that's to be expected given the central location and didn't detract from an otherwise wonderful stay.Thank you to the whole team for making our visit so enjoyable.

  We were at Hotel Butrinti – a 5-star hotel – for 2 nights now in February.We had booked a standard room with a balcony and sea view.Considering that this 5-star hotel offers and is supposed to provide maximum comfort for the “quality it offers” and the prices it charges, we booked without hesitation.TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!The room lacked almost everything, except for the sea view and the balcony:There was no duvet, only a sheet;There were no disposable slippers;There were no bathrobes.Things we had to request one by one, instead of finding them already there (basic amenities for a 5-star hotel).The room had very few power outlets.The television did not work; it did not receive any channels.The bathroom sink was so small that you could barely wash even your eyes without soaking the floor.The bottle of liquid hand soap was empty, just like the shower shampoo bottles were empty.The minibar was not included in the price.Breakfast, surprisingly, was not a buffet, but prepared by the chef (perhaps because it was off-season, but that still does not justify it).Overall, a complete disappointment.I do not recommend this hotel to anyone!!!

  Exceptional Service: Don't understand the low ratings—my stay was perfect.Key Staff: Huge thanks to Semi (excellent restaurant suggestions always to know about Local food) and Martha (very cooperative). The Manager was also incredibly helpful.Special Highlight: Received a generous room upgrade.Overall: Highly cooperative staff, truly had a great time. Highly recommended!
