Beautiful lakeside location and views make the place.

    rating10 Apr 2026

We chose El Casco for its gorgeous lakeside location and proximity to Circuito Chico. While the interior is nothing particular special -- it feels like a business class hotel with rooms off long hallways, our room itself was spectacular, a massive suite with a killer view. The hotel bar staff was great, too -- especially Eziquel, who whipped up a terrific Negroni variant using his house made Rosa Mosqueta gin and Cynar instead of Campari, really excellent. If your priority is to explore the town of Bariloche by night, this would not be the best choice as it is 12 kilometers from the town center and traffic on the two-lane road is always jammed. But if city nightlife is not what you're here for, this place is great. For dining out, I highly recommend El Mallin, a cozy winter-themed restaurant just across the road; we ate their twice and loved it.

A beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings.

    rating22 Dec 2025

We visited Bariloche, of course, for the lakes which we knew would be beautiful. What we hadn’t properly anticipated was the stunning setting of the hotel next to one of those lakes, overlooked by mountains in the background, and birds regularly floating in to land on the water. The room was spacious and immaculate, the aspects of the bar and dining areas were amazing. The reception is open 24/7 and everyone we met there were very friendly. We also enjoyed chatting with the bar and restaurant staff. There was ample choice at breakfast, both savoury and sweet. (The restaurant was also excellent for evening meals.)It is important to note that the location of this hotel is a few kilometres outside of central Bariloche. This may impact the decision of some potential guests but was no issue for us, and Uber is available.

Maybe past its glory - lovely and peaceful.

    rating29 Mar 2025

We had a peaceful and quiet time here. With 30 rooms it was never going to get busy. It was a little distant from the town. Approx 16USD in taxi. The hotel is all around a bit shabby chic. Let’s be honest, the art on the walls are amazing and the many sculptures jump out at you in all locations. Surprising and delighting. The staff are super friendly and uber attentive. Breakfast was lovely and varied. The hotel does however need a small spruce up. Too many things are ‘just ok’. The pool needs a clean down. Small amounts Algae growing on the walls. Some tiles on the pool floor are missing. Concrete grouting missing. A once over with a pool net morning and night would add to the cleanliness. The pool sun loungers are ok. But tired. Rooms are missing some basic essentials for 2025. A desk with accessible plugs. Lights with the same light bulb colours. Coffee / coffee cups in the room. We did have a kettle. The Beds are comfortable and the view was to die for / amazing

Should be number one in Bariloche

    rating23 Mar 2025

This place could prosper just from the amazing views from the rooms but everything else was 5 star too. From check in to check out services were wonderful and we had dinner in the restaurant at the hotel which is highly recommended as well. A bit out of town but convenient nonetheless and Ubers were always available. Best breakfast I had in Argentina.

Tired & in need of serious maintenance

    rating13 Jan 2025

Not a 5 star hotel as advertised & not worth the high prices charged. The location of the hotel is very good, far enough away from the traffic & crowds in the city centre, but easy enough to access sites easily with a car. The breakfast buffet was good, (though the coffee, American & espresso was just fair), and it was nice to sit outside. We had a beautiful view of the lake from our room, & the beds were comfortable. Those were the positives. Lots of negatives though. The rooms & facilities are not well maintained. The carpets through out the hallways & rooms were threadbare & stained. The shower went from hot to cold during use. There is no real air conditioning, just what they call “ air refrigeration “ which did not sufficiently cool the room, & there were no screens on the window, so if you left them open insects flew in. The pool area was a complete mess: few loungers, & what they had were ripped & worn. No pool towels to be found. The pool was filthy, with tons of debris in it. For some reason, on a very hot day, the glass retractable door of the pool area was kept closed, so if you wanted to enjoy the shade, you had no fresh air. The hot tub was actually disgusting, there was so much scum floating on top & the water was cloudy. Overall, very disappointed with the hotel, would not recommend it at all.
