  Online photos do NOT match condition of property & certainly not a 4-5 star property

  NOT a 5 star as listed online! The photos on their website and those listed on various booking sites are very misleading!! ?? Hotel is old?? Wallpaper coming off walls?? Hallways look like a race car track with scuff marks along the walls?? Bathroom had mold ?? Tub finish half gone in some rooms?? Initial room had a chunk out of the wall ?? Carpets worn?? Blanket had holes?? The gym? TERRIBLE!!! Expedia double superior room shows double sinks in bathroom. Hotel said that’s only an option with a suite. Kindly showed them the issues with our room & they offered us 2 other double superior rooms in worse condition. Contacted Expedia and they got us upgraded to a suite at no cost. That was a kind offer, but NOT what we were after. We even offered to pay extra for the upgrade. We don’t complain just to get upgrades. That’s not our style. The suite however wasn’t much better. It did have more space and did have double sinks but the condition of the room including mold and rust in the bathroom, damaged walls, worn carpet, etc was the same. The exterior of the door handle on the suite doesn’t work correctly. We were standing outside our room unable to get in. The guest across the hall comes out and says we had that same room last yr. Looks like they still haven’t fixed that. Here’s the trick. A yr later and they haven’t fixed the door handle????The gym? Oh no! This is an important determining factor when we travel. The photos online do NOT match the quality of the gym. One stationary bike and it was broken and damaged (see photos). Treadmillls covered in dust & dirt. Weights were unracked on the floor. There’s an old water dispenser with no water tank but moldy water sitting in the tray. The exercise floor mat is covered in mildew (see photos). The floor of the gym is so old and worn and yet the photos show this great highly polished wood floor. There was a tv but never found a remote. Rusty and dusty treadmills, but they at least worked. One day a large gush of water came out of the ceiling above. Several large bucket fulls of water. Gym is on 2nd floor so this came from the 3rd floor and not the roof. I could go on and on about the gym and that’s so important to us when we travel. Big let down especially when the online photos looked amazing AND this is supposedly a 5 star property. The location of this hotel is very convenient. That was a plus for sure.Breakfast was typical hotel breakfast . Open until 10:30 which was helpful if you slept in or wanted to get a workout in before bkst. They will fill your water bottles for you at no cost behind the bar if you ask. Staff was all friendly other than breakfast attendants. They could use a smile or two. If this was rated a 3 star hotel and had accurate photos I would not have been as critical although I question a 3 star rating even for this property given the current condition. A 5 star hotel comes with certain expectations and the Claridge does not even come close to a 3.5 star. A 3 star would be a stretch in my opinion. We typically don’t stay in 5 star properties either. We’re truly not that fussy. The online photos of the property looked great, the location was very central to our activities, price seemed fair for 5 star AND the gym looked great so we chose this property. The convenient location was the only accurate part of this. Inaccurate online photos is false advertising as well and not fair for travelers. Our reservation was non refundable so couldn’t change properties. We’d also been traveling 2 days to arrive here, had unpacked, hadn’t seen the gym yet, it was cold out, etc. Changing to a different hotel was not a feasible option nor an option offered to us. Had this been a wk+ long stay we might have considered doing so and just forgoing the cost not refunded. Highly disappointed in this experience in many different aspects and would not recommend.

  Elegant old hotel with a lovely outdoor pool area

  The building oozes style and must have been incredible in its heydey. All our family loved it´s old character, made even more perfect on Christmas morning with all the 50s and 60s Christmas classic tunes wafting through the restaurant and bar. All the facilities were very clean and well cared for. The staff couldn´t have been nicer or more accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Our room on the 11th floor had a good view over the pool and was nice and quiet.RE older reviews I've read on here, the sauna is no longer functioning, no mimosas at breakfast and the wifi connection in our room was very poor as others have mentioned (maybe as we were on a high floor)As we were there on public holiday (24 and 25 December) the bar was shut, although we could use the space to sit in. It would have been nice for it to be open as it's the only public space in the hotel before 10am or after 7pm when the pool area is closed and, given that, I'm sure that guests would have happily spent enough to justify having a member of staff on to keep it open.

  NOT a 5* hotel!!!!

  This is actually THE WORST hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. Upon arrival, I was told my 'superior' room had 2 beds and not a king bed as I had booked. The hotel was actually located opposite a S*X shop so I kind of knew it was not the 5* it had been advertised as. The reception staff were rude and told me that I could cancel if I was not happy with having 2 beds. When I got to the room, I was actually scared to sit anywhere as the room looked filthy. The walls were cracked, the carpet looked disgusting, the bathroom was just... I don't even know what to say. I checked out within 30 mins and booked the only hotel available in BA that week which was an hour and a half drive from the city. This is NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL!!!!!! Sorry Claridge team but this hotel is falsely advertising itself. It needs a complete renovation. It actually cost $300 more than the actual 5* Sheraton hotel I booked when I left.

  Great location for a hotel which was likely a 5-star back-in-the-day. We found the staff friendly, room clean, but tired. Television only in Spanish. A/C worked well. I would stay again at the right price point. Many good cafes/restaurants within walking distance. We had breakfast at a local cafe (4 cappuccinos, 1 cookie, 2 chocolate croissants and water) for $26. The hotel would have been $48.

  I haven't stayed in anything similar to a Motel 6 since my sister booked my first trip to Las Vegas. I booked my birthday trip through Delta Vacations. I picked this hotel because of the rating and its close proximity to the ferry. I was traveling with others and I embarrassed and ashamed that the accommodations were in such bad shape.The hotel was probably a 5 in its hay day, but those days are long gone. The picture of the front is definitely deceptive. You have to take the picture from the street which happens to be in front of a sex toy store.The carpets and walls are disgusting. The wood or laminate flooring is buckling. The televisions in each room varied as well as the channels. The bathroom was the cleanest part of the room and even in there I was afraid to touch. I always sanitize my room and spray disinfectant. However, I still didn't feel comfortable with this room. I slept in my clothes and changed in the bathroom. I sprayed disinfectant on my luggage prior to leaving the hotel The staff was friendly, but it didn't make up for this deplorable hotel.The hotel is close to shopping, restaurants and other sites, but I would have gladly taken Uber for better accommodations so I could rest better. We stayed in the hotel two days prior to boarding an expedition ship to Antarctica. My accommodations on the ship were like the Waldorf Astoria compared to the rooms in this hotel.
