    Good bang for the buck

    rating27 Jun 2020

TThis hotel was great for the price, and met my expectations for a 3-star hotel. The lobby was elegant, clean and well-taken care of; the staff were attentive to our needs, spoke English and were helpful and professional. The room itself was quite nice - two double beds for my mom and I. A separate area with a couch. A closet with a safe. Linens were fresh and didn't stink of cigarettes, as others have written. Towels were fresh and the bathroom was clean (although something in there was broken - I forgot what since I has been over 6 months since I visited - something like the porcelain in the bathtub had a crack in it, which didn't affect the performance.) The room had a flat-screen TV, A/C and a refrigerator. The only major negative about the room was that the window opened up into some strange shaft and there wasn't a lick of natural light in the room. One day my mom and I overslept. I woke up naturally around 10:30 a.m. and was confused because I felt rested but there was no natural light in the room. Then I figured out the window opened up into a shaft and the natural light was high above us. Bummer. The most important thing is that our room was clean, it was a non-smoking room and didn't smell of smoke or alcohol or sweat (as did a previously monstrous hostel we stayed at pretty much right next door - we ran away from there after the first night even though we paid for three more!) Most of all, we felt safe inside the hotel - with key cards for the electronic locks. The elevators are old and a bit scary, but nothing to get overly anxious about. The continental breakfast of sandwiches with meat and cheese, juice and coffee was acceptable although not impressive.Overall the hotel showed its age but I am not a snobby princess - a 3-star hotel is good enough for me.I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the location - kind of scary for single women! If I could find another acceptable hotel for a higher price (although still affordable), I would take it next time to avoid that scary alley! Recommended.

    Responsive Staff

    rating03 Jul 2018

I am giving this 4 stars because the staff was very receptive to our needs. Orbitz allowed us to reserve a room at a closed hotel. Gran Hotel de la Paix was able to accommodate us with very limited notice. They were also considerate to our needs and requests throughout our stay. The facilities our showing signs of their age, but the staff is very good.

    BEDBUGS BEWARE

    rating23 Apr 2018

we come from Miami and we took this hotel because it is very close to Corrientes ave and it is center however when we arrive we see that only lobby looks nice but rooms smell humid, its room is dark however we wanted only for one night because next day we go to Glacier El Calafate in Patagonia, but in the middle of night something make me feel as allergy, when I wake up at 3 am midnight I check my bed and I found some BEDBUGS I almost died , I called the manager immediately to report it and they change of room but the other room stink it that I couldn't sleep all night long . THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE.Next day I request my money back but they did not have only 40 bucks in cash anyway I run away from this garbage " HOTEL "

Location is a huge factor in getting 2 stars

    rating23 May 2017

We stayed here before a cruise and found the place a bit frustrating and we were allowed to change rooms when we complained of a strong nicotine odor in our room. The newer room was much better, no smell as the window opened, but at night it was loud but if you closed the window it wasn't so bad. We wore earplugs. We felt it was expensive for the condition, but as we did not spend too much time in the room it was the location that made us stay.

    Booking Trap

    rating26 Oct 2016

It looks nice on any booking web pages, but not. It's a booking trap! Although Reception looks great and clean, bedrooms (beds and furniture) are old, dirty with disgusting smell of mould or smoking. It was a very unpleasant and disgusting experience. The only one advantage is location. But, with the cost, you probably can get something better.
