This was once a sheep ranch 40 years ago when the city grew up around it and it was eventually converted into a hotel; Dinner was at our hotel’s restaurant. Wow what a LONG day of bus travel!!!The hotel is long and all 34 rooms on one floor. We had sheep and peacocks outside our open window.Giving this hotel a 4.1 hinge rating on a scale of 0-5 tremun Tremun, Agency / Consultant at Kau Yatun Hotel & Estancia, responded to this review Dear Tsheley, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. A tranquil place from which to explore
05 Feb 2026
We stayed 3 nights in Feb ‘26. A comfortable, quiet hotel about 1 km from the main street where you’ll find many shops, restaurants and tour operators. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff were courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the bikes that were available to borrow and the free presentation held about the local geology. We tried guanaco steaks in the onsite restaurant and enjoyed the breakfast that was included with the room. tremun Tremun, Agency / Consultant at Kau Yatun Hotel & Estancia, responded to this review Dear Troy, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are pleased to hear that you found our hotel comfortable and enjoyed the spaciousness and cleanliness of your room. It is wonderful to know that our staff contributed positively to your stay. Love at First Sight

We are only staying one night, and we have only been here a couple hours, but we already want to come back. The staff is very kind and helpful. The grounds are beautifully manicured. The highlight -so far- was a free talk offered by a local geologist telling us the history and formation of the Patagonia area from Pangea to present day. Gabriel knew his stuff and presented it in a way that was easy to understand. I can’t wait for dinner, as the menu looks enticing. Stay here! tremun Tremun, Agency / Consultant at Kau Yatun Hotel & Estancia, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you very much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that you are already considering a return visit after just a few hours with us. It is gratifying to know that our staff's kindness and helpfulness made a positive impression on you. We take great pride in our beautiful grounds and are pleased that you enjoyed the informative talk by Christian, which showcases the fascinating history of Patagonia. We hope you find the dinner menu as enticing as it appears. Thank you for recommending us, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Thank you again!

Beautiful hacienda to stay in for visiting Los Glaciares National Park
10 Jan 2026
This hotel is a gem. It has a great ambiance, is beautifully decorated and furnished, has a great and helpful staff, and is well situated. It is about a 10-min walk (or a short Uber ride) to the edge of El Calafate but that's what makes it well situated--not too busy or noisy. The breakfast is great and so is the bar (we did not eat dinner there). We stayed there mainly as a launching point for visiting Los Glaciares National Park. El Calafate is alright--convenient for the park and a bit touristy, but Kau Yatun made our stay in Calafate all better. I would come back here if given the chance. tremun Tremun, Agency / Consultant at Kau Yatun Hotel & Estancia, responded to this review Dear Scully, thank you very much for your kind review.
