    This was once a sheep ranch 40 years ago when the city grew up around it and it was eventually converted into a hotel; Dinner was at our hotel’s restaurant.     A tranquil place from which to explore

    We stayed 3 nights in Feb ‘26. A comfortable, quiet hotel about 1 km from the main street where you’ll find many shops, restaurants and tour operators. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff were courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the bikes that were available to borrow and the free presentation held about the local geology.     Love at First Sight

    We are only staying one night, and we have only been here a couple hours, but we already want to come back. The staff is very kind and helpful. The grounds are beautifully manicured. The highlight -so far- was a free talk offered by a local geologist telling us the history and formation of the Patagonia area from Pangea to present day. Gabriel knew his stuff and presented it in a way that was easy to understand. I can’t wait for dinner, as the menu looks enticing.     Beautiful hacienda to stay in for visiting Los Glaciares National Park

    This hotel is a gem. It has a great ambiance, is beautifully decorated and furnished, has a great and helpful staff, and is well situated. It is about a 10-min walk (or a short Uber ride) to the edge of El Calafate but that's what makes it well situated--not too busy or noisy. The breakfast is great and so is the bar (we did not eat dinner there). We stayed there mainly as a launching point for visiting Los Glaciares National Park. El Calafate is alright--convenient for the park and a bit touristy, but Kau Yatun made our stay in Calafate all better.
