A good stay to visit the colorful mountains

Service: okayRooms: bigCleanliness: goodBreakfast: same as everywhere in Argentina Location: good, but ask if they have a parking spot leftPrice: a bit more expensive then other similar spaces Wifi: available and okayA little bit mixed feelings about this place. Rooms are spacious and they have a beautiful outdoors. Breakfast is very simple and the same as the rest of Argentina. When we checked in they asked us to pay immediately. The lady at the checkout was not that friendly. And then there is this confusion with the parking area. Cars are behind each other so if a guest wants to leave the other guest needs to move his/her car. Overall would still recommend it.

    Mixed feelings

The hotel is a mixture between a hotel and a hostel and does not stand to my expectations. The room was clean and spacy but did lack, for example, a TV. We didn't mind because we would not look Argentian TV anyhow but other people might want it. The breakfast consists mainly of very sweet stuff and is somewhat overcrowded if there are more than 6-8 people at the same time. It also starts only at 8:00 AM, which is quite late if you want to start early for a day trip. But if you ask you get prepared some eggs. The parking is somewhat limited and it may take other cars to be removed to let you out.

Very pleasant hotel with charming staff

Everywhere you go in Argentina people are charming and helpful and Patio Alto is no exception. Mercedes went out of her way to be welcoming and despite the difficulties of obtaining delicious ingredients for breakfast much that which was on offer was proudly home made. As other visitors have remarked, the hotel is a little outside the main part of the town but still in easy reach of restaurants.

    A relaxing, colourful oasis

    rating27 Sept 2017

We stayed here for two nights after driving from Atacama in Chile via Paso Jama and were initially in need of a good rest; we were not disappointed. Patio Alto is simply a lovely hotel with tastefully appointed rooms in sympathy with local styles. Rooms are quiet and spacious. The hotel is medium-sized, so everything is handy. A great welcome from owner Pat with lots of time spent to give us a good briefing on the local area and town with suggestions on how best to spend our time and the best restaurants in town. Pat's recommendations were spot on so our time in Tilcara was most enjoyable. Do not miss the chance to visit and view El Hornocal, the local 14-coloured mountain with it's spectacular, white-knuckle drive to the viewing point. Pat will give you clear directions and any additional information required. This was our favourite hotel in 3 week's travelling through Chile and Argentina; quite, lovely welcome, well-appointed, easy walk to town, secure car parking, homemade breakfast/preserves..... ideal.
