    great hotel to stay in. Easy parking right next door.     I don’t often stay at IHG properties, as they are few and far between in Aotearoa New Zealand and I have status in three other programmes. But this 2 day stop over was booked by Journey Beyond as part of a Darwin to Perth trip, first on the Ghan and then the Indian Pacific. The reception team set the tone immediately on arrival, very warm and welcoming. My standard room was, well, standard. They say the rooms are uncluttered and that’s true, but they are a bit sterile. Another piece of artwork on the wall opposite the bed would have helped. Very, very clean though, I suppose it makes it easier for room servicing. I had room service in the first night as I was a bit fooded out after the Ghan. It was fine - nothing outstanding but ok. Breakfast is good with a reasonably wide selection. I was a bit disappointed with the pool deck. It is in shade for much of the day and in a bit of a wind tunnel. It’s still great for getting laps in but not really for relaxing. Maybe better in the summer months. I had an issue with the TV which was attended to quickly. Just an anecdote to illustrate the attention to detail here - the guy left a couple of finger prints on the screen whilst checking the cables. He cleaned them off before he left the room. Location is excellent for walking to Rundle Street and the mall, and close to the free 98 and 99 bus routes so everything is accessible. So overall I debated between four and five star rating - it ended up as a five because of the staff and location. Every member of staff I interacted with was great. They found me when my driver turned up over half an hour early too!

    My daughter and I had just arrived from camping across the nullabor so had lots of gear including swags and surf boards. They were kind enough to look after our things and also one of the girls at the concierge desk walked with me to pick up the stuff and carry it back to the hotel. They were all very helpful and obliging. The room was amazing and breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in a hotel for a while.
