    The location is disappointing and the surroundings felt rather messy. I prefered Marriot Adelaide.When I arrived at the hotel, I had to carry my two large suitcases by myself. No one offered to help me. The counter lady even asked me to push my luggage one by one to the counter, comparing to Marriot Adelaide, the Marrio”s counter lady was immediately to help me to push one of it… Totally different service even though they are in the same line!The Sofitel staff at the counter never smiled and did not seem welcoming at all. In the service industry, staff should aim to improve the guest experience, not make it worse.Most importantly, the housekeeping team rejected my request for extra water. They only provide two 330ml bottles per day and said it was due to hotel policy. They even asked me to buy water outside. This was a huge disappointment. i would not expect this is how Sofitel Adelaide treats their guess….My Sofitel dream has been completely destroyed. I would not consider staying at Sofitel anywhere in the world again if they cannot fulfill such a simple request like providing water.     Sofitel AdelaideA good choice, but nothing more.A convenient location and a relatively new property, with functional services such as valet parking and self-parking.The staff is definitely a strong point: kind, helpful, with a special mention for Lygia, who was truly professional.Unfortunately, however, there are aspects that prevent this hotel from going beyond a “good” rating:cleanliness was not up to standard (bin not emptied upon arrival and visible dust), the luxury rooms are rather small and not very practical for luggage, and the carpet is not particularly pleasant.A clear downside is the breakfast: poor management, items not replenished once finished, and an overall lack of attention. An aspect that, for a hotel of this level, is really hard to accept.Overall: good, but without that extra touch that makes the difference.

    I have stayed at many Sofitel hotels around the world and was looking forward to this stay - and it didn’t disappoint. Stayed for 4 nights and had a fabulous, luxurious room with views to the Adelaide hills. Fabulous location with easy walk in to the city centre, close to some amazing restaurants, and convenient to public transport. Enjoyed access to Club Milleseme which was a welcome retreat in the afternoon after exploring. Breakfast was fabulous in Garçon Bleu as were the cocktails in the bar.My favourite part of the stay though was the staff - from a warm welcome at the front desk, to service staff, housekeeping, and all the various restaurant staff - every staff member I met was so friendly and helpful which makes such a difference when you are away.     The hotel itself is beautiful, new (or at least it looks so) and conveniently located close to many restaurants and shops.The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice view over the city.

    Disappointing front desk team and a confrontational senior manager

    The Sofitel Adelaide is a beautiful property but I would not recommend it. The problem lie with the service quality of the front desk team. I had three negative experiences with them. First, on arrival at 11pm on a Monday night, the front desk executive was curt, rude and also inattentive. Second, the check-out experience was also poor. When I presented my ticket to claim one of my stored luggages, the staff was impatient and curt. When I tried to describe which bag I wanted to pick up (I didn’t need all of them), she reiterated rudely that she needed 2 minutes rather than a polite acknowledgement. Third, I tried to share my feedback in-person with the hotel’s Executive Assistant Manager but that didn’t get very far. He was not entirely forthcoming on the facts. He chose to confront my honest feedback, gaslight, rather than address it. I respect that he is trying to shield his team, but that is probably why the service is of such low quality for a 5-star hotel
