Location

This is the finest international hotel in Adelaide's central business district. The hotel is superbly situated in the heart of the city on Adelaide's key cultural boulevard, North Terrace. The excellent location means it is just a short stroll to the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Casino, Festival Centre and boutique shopping. It is only 10 minutes from the Adelaide Airport and 20 minutes from Adelaide's premier beachside suburb, Glenelg.

Facility

The hotel has 3 lifts and features 334 rooms. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Services such as a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops as well. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Other services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service and a coin-operated laundry. Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. All rooms are carpeted and have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed.     Meh... if it seems cheap for 5 stars...it's probably not 5 stars.

    Having arrived at 8am on a very early flight i was keen for an early check in. Extreme noise in the lobby made it difficult to communicate with staff, i agreed to an 'upgrade' fee of $60 that would not only allow me to check in right away but give me a better room 'with a view'. Unfortunately, that view was on the 13th floor and consisted of a construction crane through a very dirty window!The amenities expected with a 5 star hotel do not exist. You can get a robe but only if you ask and it's crumpled, well worn and scratchy. The white towels were more of a grey beige and need to be replaced. Rooms were spacious but very dated. bathroom was terrible! Water pressure does not exist and the toilets require at least 2 flushes. Room service from Boca was great (Empanada's were delicious) On the second night i chose from the Asian menu - satay skewers that were tough, dry and obviously reheated.The breakfast buffet is NOT worth it, unless you get it for free or during the $1 promotion. It was not worth the $30 I paid and you would be better off finding a nice cafe nearby. Pros- Stream cast TV, large rooms, comfy beds, great walkable location.Cons- Food options limited, mini bar is bland and $$$, Rooms are very noisy due to old AC system, the soap/shampoo/bathroom stuff is rubbish. There are basic tea/coffee supplies but they are tucked away in a drawer and it's a pain to set up.This place needs a renovation and a bit more luxury perks to be a true 5 star hotel.

    The location of Stamford Plaza is excellent. The important Adelaide sights are all within easy walking distance. The railway station is right opposite and so is the tram stop. We had a Deluxe room with a park view. Otherwise, the hotel has a very jaded and old look. The room was comfortable and there were good toiletries in the bathroom. But the bathroom itself needs a renovation. The shower mixer is erratic. The elevators were a major problem point during our stay. The Cascades lounge at the rear was very dimly illuminated, old faded chairs and seemed dusty. The toilets were also badly lit. The breakfast at TGs was just about ok. The food on the buffet counters did not look appetising. On the positive side, the staff / housekeeping, were helpful, courteous and did their best to make us comfortable.
