Location

The hotel is located in the Adelaide Hills, perfectly situated to explore the beautiful nearby regions, such as the Barossa, McLaren Vale and the Fleurieu Peninsula. The hotel is only 20 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and 35 minutes from Adelaide Airport.

Facility

The motel has a lift and features 19 rooms. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access (for a fee) is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The motel offers various facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air.     If I could rate a 0 I would. This is not because of the condition of the property. This is because they cancelled our booking not even 24 hours before due to check in. Their excuse, they overbooked. However, we booked over 2 weeks ago, if this was the case why take to the day before to inform us. Try calling, phone hangs up as soon as it answers. Also, they have taken our money, and we still have not received a refund. I am now hearing bad reports about the Manna Group. They really don't care as they have the monopoly in Hahndorf

    We have stayed here many times in recent years, however the last two trips have disappointed us with WiFi not working and cold water in the shower in the morning. The motel is a great location but we have decided that our next trip we will choose another venue.

    Disappointing stay at the Lodge

    I recently stayed at the Lodge and was thoroughly disappointed with the experience. Upon arrival, I was supposed to receive a complimentary bottle of wine but the staff informed me they had run out and instead offered two bottles of beer. As a red wine enthusiast this was not an acceptable substitute.Later that evening I noticed a cockroach in our room , but it scurried away before I could address it. The situation escalated the following morning at 4.30 am when my wife was awakened to find a cockroach crawling on her hand. Understandably, we couldn't get back to sleep after that.I promptly emailed the motel to report the incident and requested a refund for the second night of our stay . As of six days later, I have received no response . In contrast ,Travel Auctions, through whom I booked, has been exemplary in their customer service and has offered a refund.Given the lack of cleanliness and the absence of any response from the Lodge , I cannot recommend this establishment to others

    This is located in a terrific place in easy walking of restaurants and shops. The rooms have lovely gardens around them but are very old and dated - very much in need of a complete overhaul. It was ok for a one night road trip but I wouldn’t stay again unless it’s renovated. Cleanliness could have been better.

    Arrived at reception and the greeting was less than cheerful and with the Lodge being a distance away a map was too much trouble with verbal instructions only, so it took us a short time to find our room. On arrival at our room the first thing we noticed was a huge wet patch on the carpet as the fridge had defrosted and leaked, turns out someone had turned it off. This looked like a regular occurrence as the wood from the bottom of the adjoining unit was rotten and falling apart. All the units were worn and dirty with paint missing around handles and corners. The bed wasn’t made with pillows and sheets piled up on the sofa and the room was untidy. The furniture was old and dirty and the bathroom was grotty with only one towel. There were hairs and ‘bits’ on the bathroom floor. There were large cobwebs across the rafter in the main bedroom. Turns out as we found out 6hrs later after a phone call from a different receptionist they hadn’t serviced our room, we were out at dinner by then and had reverted to using our own bedding and towels. The whole room needs refurbishing and as a qualified OH&S assessor there are a few OH&S issues to be attended to with sharp corners on the units in the tiny bathroom, dust and mould on the fan, rickety units and sharp edges around and a slippery entry into the adjoining pool with trip hazards. Thankfully we only stayed one night and on returning the key I mentioned my disappointment to the morning receptionist who I understand is not responsible herself. I was offered minimal apology, no part refund or explanation as to the state of the rooms aside from the lack of servicing. I did mention that management needs to check these tired and dated rooms to ensure happy clients. Being Hahndorf I was looking forward to a nice stay and it’s a bit sad that especially with so many international tourists visiting this is the standard of room offered. Was it just this room or others as well? We didn’t ask to change rooms on arrival as we were told they had a full house and we had already paid and unpacked our belongings. Do not take any notice of the promotional photos of the Lodge these are from a number of years ago and the site has decayed since then.Please get your property manager to do a walkthrough with a view to updating and refurbishing these tired and dated rooms for the benefit of future patrons.
