    Beware of hundreds of dollars added to bill as "deposit"

    Two days after staying at this hotel I noticed that in addition to the charge for room and parking, an additional $200 had been billed to my account as a "pending" charge - that is, the funds were make unavailable in my bank account.On querying this I got a curt message from "Jake" telling me it was not their problem, it's their "policy", and depending on my bank I might have to wait 30 days to get my money back - completely ignoring that there was no reason for this extraneous charge at all; I had fully paid for my room (and parking) before I ever set foot in it!I recommend only dealing in cash with these guys and not paying a penny more than you owe them. If you use a card they will make extraneous charges on it you haven't incurred and then shrug their shoulders and tell you to wait a month to get your money back.The rooms are nicely appointed by the way. It's just the customer service - at least from "Jake" - is atrocious.

    Second stay. Friendly reception staff. Easy check in. Surprised to be afforded free late check out when checking in, which I had selected when booking, and thought I would pay for. Easy walk to and close to Triffid music venue (350m).Beautiful Dan Arnold's for degustation dining on ground floor. Apartment: clean, quiet, on 10th floor. Good air con. Kitchen, full sized fridge, stove top, oven, dishwasher, laundry with washer and dryer. Note: no microwave. Clean balcony. Close to Homemakers Centre on Wickham St (400m) once you cross over Ann St. Then in the other direction (450m) to James Street Precinct for boutigue and market/fresh food shopping (no full supermarket, as such). However IGA (500m) in Brookes St and Woolies (750m) away near Gas Works precinct. More restaurants there. Uber do, however, deliver to APH. There is also a cinema at James St precinct. Coffee shops: one on the corner/same city block as APH and more across the road at "1000 Ann St". APH encourage you to report any maintenance issues or ask if there is anything you require.     Alex Perry Hotel is an elegant, comfortable hotel in a convenient location close to James Street, Fortitude Valley and just across the road to 1000 Ann Street shopping and restaurant precinct. . Staff are always polite, cheerful and helpful. It is always clean and quiet and good value.     The location is amazing, walking distance to restaurants, cafes and shops. The room had the aesthetic appeal, however some surfaces were quite dusty. The lounge is very low and quite hard to get out of. Not good for older people. The dishwasher wasn’t a very efficient cleaner of dishes, had to be washed by hand after going through a cycle. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. Value for where the accommodation is situated was quite good and if the need arises again we would definitely stay there again.     We regularly stay at the Alex Perry Hotel when in Brisbane. Locations is impossible to beat if you intend shopping, sand dining around James Street, Gasworks, New Farm or Fortitude Valley.The apartments are and excellency size, very well equipped and have incredibly clean.Service is first class and the pricing is very reasonable.Will continue to stay here.
