    Excellent Location

    rating22 Apr 2026

Ibis Styles is a great hotel with an excellent location. Approx 2 mins from Queen street and Event Cinemas and 10 mins walk across the bridge to South Bank. The room was modern and clean - if slightly on the small side. The hotel lobby smelt amazing and the staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. Would definitely stay there again! Clean and basic

    rating18 Apr 2026

The room is very small with barely any room to move. It’s good if you’re only staying 1-2 days but not much longer. The hotel is conveniently located close to the river and therefore easy to get to Southbank. We’re pleased to hear you found the hotel clean and appreciated our convenient location close to the river and South Bank, making it easy to explore the area.We also appreciate your comments regarding room size. As a city-centre hotel, our rooms are designed to be compact and functional, which is best suited for short stays. Your feedback is valued and helps us continue to improve. We hope to welcome you back again in the future.Kind regards,Katherine McNaughtManager on Duty

The good, the bad, and the dealbreakers

    rating18 Mar 2026

I'd like to start off by saying that above all else, the staff at the Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth street I cannot fault. They have always been friendly and welcoming and very professional. Now onto the review...The Good. The rooms are very comfortable. Small and compact as you'd expect at an Ibis but the space is utilised well, the rooms flow and they have everything you need. Check in is always a breeze, I've always been greeted with a smile and a warm welcome to Brisbane by whoever has been at the desk. The restaurant on level 1 offers top quality food at reasonable enough prices (highly recommend the pizzas!) and the breakfast offerings are more than sufficient to start your day. I also love that the in house movies are all offered free of charge here for those days you're just looking for some downtime. The location is another big plus for this hotel, situated literally right next door to the Uptown shopping mall, you've got all the shops you could want right at your doorstep and you can easily walk through to the Queen Street Mall. Tonnes of awesome restaurants around that area too. Wu Kong is a favourite of our's just down the road if you're looking some good quality Chinese.Now. The Bad.The following are issues that were exclusive to my most recent stay. The first problem I encountered was when I went down to the restaurant for dinner at 8pm after getting off a long flight. I was exhausted and just wanted something to eat. Immediately I was accosted by screaming, squealing and shouting by a large group of high school aged visitors from the United States. Upon entry, the staff said "we've got a school function so it might be a bit loud." I'm not trying to be a buzzkill and I get it, kids will be kids, but this is not the standard I expect as a member of the Accor program. My issue is not that the kids were there and having fun, my issue is why were the staff just letting them carry on in an incredibly disruptive manner? I pay good money for my Accor membership and have been a loyal member. I should be able to arrive at a hotel and expect a certain standard of peace and quiet. The way these kids (AND the adults accompanying them!!!) were being allowed to carry on as if this was their own private venue was unacceptable. As if that were not enough, I then proceeded to sit at my table, listening to this screaming and carrying on, for 55 minutes before my food finally arrived. All I ordered was a pizza and a side of fries. There is no conceivable situation where that should take an hour to come out. I avoided the restaurant for the remainder of my stay as a result of these issues. Had I not paid in advance for breakfast, I would have chosen to go elsewhere in the mornings too.Granted, these problems are things I think can be fixed if noted and acted upon by the management. Which is why I have mentioned them here, rather than in the following category...The Dealbreakers. Now for the two reasons I will not be returning to this hotel. After many stays it has become clear to me that this building has a serious issue with its air-conditioning system. On my last 3 stays, every single time I have found myself in a room with an air-conditioning unit that simply cannot cool the room effectively. When this has been raised with management, the response is usually "we have a full hotel, we can't move you." So I've been forced to either put up with it or go downstairs and purchase a pedestal fan out of my own money.Management also asserts that this air-conditioning issue is exclusive to the higher floors. Okay, so here's my problem, I always book the standard rooms on the lower floors for this reason. Yet, without me requesting it, I always get upgraded to these higher floors that seemingly have constant aircon issues. As an Accor Gold member, this is a perk of the program, and I appreciate the upgrades, but goodness, stop upgrading people without asking them into rooms in which you KNOW the air-cons don't work! It's really not an upgrade at that point. The other dealbreaker, while not the fault of the hotel, is the loud music coming from the pub downstairs at all hours of the night. I was on the 23rd floor and it was so loud that I was still unable to sleep the night before a long haul international flight. Again, I know this isn't the fault of the hotel, but still, you pay for a hotel room to SLEEP. Not much point if you can't even do that.I have had many good memories at this hotel. But I just can't overlook these issues and book with confidence knowing that I will be unable to sleep either due to being in a hot room, being blasted by doof-doof music all night, or both. In future I will be opting for one of the many other Accor offerings in the CBD.Thanks for the memories, Ibis. But I won't be back. Michelle Scott, General Manager at ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street, responded to this review Dear Jtalb1989,Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and for your loyalty as an Accor Gold member. We’re glad you’ve enjoyed our staff, location, and room comfort on past stays. We sincerely apologize for the noise during the school group function, the long wait for your meal, and the air-conditioning issues in your upgraded room. Your comments about the pub noise and room comfort are noted, and we will review our procedures to prevent similar experiences for future guests. We appreciate your feedback and hope you might consider giving us another opportunity to provide the high standard of stay you expect.Warm regards,Katherine McNaughtManager on Dutyibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street

    Business Trip In Brisvegas

Fantastic location in the city close to supermarkets, shopping and restaurants. Only a short walk to Central Train Station and several bus stops close by. The room was in the smaller side but was comfy and clean. I usually find that most Ibis hotels have very firm beds, however my mattress was softer and more comfortable. Housekeeping kept the room neat and tidy for the four nights I was there. I took the advice of other reviews and had a room on the 26th floor, however could still hear the music from the pub on the corner. Michelle Scott, General Manager at ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street, responded to this review Dear David,Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay at ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street. We’re so pleased you enjoyed our central location and convenient access to transport, shopping, and dining options. It’s also great to hear you found your room comfortable and clean, and that the mattress was to your liking. I’ll be sure to pass your kind comments on to our housekeeping team.We appreciate your note regarding the noise from the nearby pub. While our prime city location is a highlight for many guests, it can sometimes come with ambient sounds. We hope to welcome you back again soon for another comfortable stay.Kind regards,Katherine McNaughtManager on Dutyibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street

Stayed midweek while catching up with relatives in town. Great location, at the back of Uptown centre so close to eateries. Short distance to Southbank too. Room was only a hotel room, not huge but definitely big enough for 2 people and well appointed. Free new movies on offer! Very good sleep due to no noise at all, its rare to not hear the sirens in the cbd. Staff are lovely.
