ANCHORAGE IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO RELAX

    rating16 May 2026

This is the 4th stay at the Anchorage, and as usual, it was just wonderful. You are greeted on arrival with an offer of beautifully chilled bubbly, OJ or sparkling water. We stay in the rooms on the ground floor overlooking the marina as it's a great position as there are no lifts to the first floor and we can stroll easily to the restaurant on the flat path. We ate in the restaurant on 2 occasions and were delighted. The first night I had the pork which was melt in my mouth and my husband had the steak which he said was also super tender. The second time we ordered the slow cooked lamb shoulder with roast veggies for two and it was absolutely DELICIOUS and a great portion size....we actually couldn't finish it all which was a shame!! The restaurant staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our meals. The buffet breakfast is the best anywhere and has absolutely every breakfast item you could ever ask for and it's all super fresh and replaced immediately when items got low. All staff in every department couldn't have been lovelier and we look forward to our 5th stay for the next birthday.

    Terrible

    rating18 Apr 2026

WOW! Check in experience terrible, we arrived early, we did not really expect an early check in although it would have been appreciated. Arrived at 2 we were informed our room was not ready, we did check-in without receiving the room key, we just happened to see what room we were given so we went and had a look at at. Location,. As I was suspicious about the room not being ready I stayed nearby, no body entered or left the room while we were waiting to officially get the key to the room.Once again at reception we were granted access to the room at 2:45, I did inform reception that no one entered or left the room in the time we waited. The reception commented, look on the bright side, you are checking in 20 minutes early! WOW! I am 100% sure the reception person was being rude when saying this. Also the room, very noisy when the guests next to us use their shower or toilet.I would mention this to reception also I know they would not care! One other thing, ants though out the room too.Best thing is to avoid this hotel I’m the future altogether The Anchorage Hotel Guest Relations team, Guest Services / Front Office at The Anchorage Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologise for the frustration caused during your arrival experience. Our standard check-in time is from 3:00 PM onwards. As your allocated room had not yet been released in the system or inspected by our Housekeeping team, our Front Office team was unable to provide access until all required checks were completed and the room status was properly updated. We understand you had gone to view the room prior to receiving the key. During this time, our housekeeping supervisor was on the floor conducting inspections across rooms, including yours, which may not have been immediately visible. We apologise for any confusion or misunderstanding regarding our room inspection protocol. We are also sorry if the comment made at reception came across as insensitive, this was certainly not our intention, and we will address this with our team to ensure a more professional and empathetic approach in future interactions.Additionally, we regret to hear about the noise concerns and the presence of ants in your room. These issues are being taken seriously and will be followed up with our maintenance and housekeeping teams to prevent recurrence.Your feedback is valuable to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.Guest services,The Anchorage Port Stephens

    Beautiful Resort

    rating09 Apr 2026

Wow! What can I say - this place is exactly what I needed. The rooms are lovely and the serenity, views and ambience are exactly what is needed to wind down and just breathe. Thank you! The happy hour makes the best cocktails - Twenty Six and Biscotti Spritz were delicious. The barista in The Galley (Angela?) is wonderful and an absolute joy with her early morning welcome. Every staff member was wonderful and asked questions about our day and where we were from. I love the adults only pool with pool service and staff sending around refreshing watermelon was an added bonus on a hot day. It really is an amazing place and we'll be back.
