    I booked a stay here, but had to cancel my non-refundable booking. They then charged my friends card instead of mine for the full stay, despite us never making a booking together on the same card at any YHA. When questioned about this by my friend, they accused me of FRAUD. I have proof that the deposit was made from my bank account and then they refused to pay my friend back until I made the payment myself. They did not accept responsibility for what is clearly their error and we didn't even receive an apology. It's very concerning how little security they have when it comes to other people's personal information. Once we realized that you and your friend had stayed under the same booking previously, and as mentioned over the phone, we immediately opened an internal investigation to understand when and how your accounts were linked.We believe that the correction on your accounts has now been processed, and we sincerely regret the inconvenience and frustration this situation caused. We apologize for any stress and miscommunication along the way.     Great stay, clean rooms. Staff very helpful especially Ricki who helped us book a taxi during the cyclone she was so lovely and positive, she made everything so much easier . The staff were overall very helpful. Hot showers and a lovely social area with Netflix.     Basic twin room with ensuite bathroom

    The hostel is close to the Greyhound bus station and a supermarket (I think Wollies).Our room was basic and bare. It was clean. No hooks and only 1 shelf in the bathroom. Because the bathroom was spacious, the room space is limited.Our room soundproofing was poor. We could hear the sound of doors being closed in the morning.     Nice hostel with a good vibe and friendly staff. Close to the centre of town and beach.Great kitchen area - well provisioned and plenty of space.Double room was clean and modern with a kettle and hanging space and tv.Parking is available at extra cost or you can park on surrounding streets depending on which street's time restrictions suit your needs.     Literally the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel or hostel, staff incredibly arrogant and entitled, told in middle of day we were being "too loud" at pool by staff member "who didn't want to be bothered", literally just a group of random guests having fun around the poolThen communal area says beers OK until 10pm and same staff member told us to clear off at 8.45 o'clock because "she said so" and threatened to have us kicked out of hostel if we didn't leaveStaff horrible and adress you like a child Shane Ironside, General Manager at Yha Byron Bay, responded to this review Dear Noel,As per email, thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our property, I appreciate you bringing this to our attention and discussing with my Assistant Manager.Firstly, I am sorry to hear that you were approached in such an unprofessional way, please accept my sincere apology.
