    Suburb stay

    rating20 May 2026

I was booked in for 1 night. I stayed in a superior room and was impressed with the space of the room, the bathroom was also bigger than average, there is also free parking at the back of the resort. I did have trouble finding the room as it's a bit maze like and the exteriors look to need a little TLC but overall I thought it was excellent value. The internet in the room is slow so I did end up using my own. Over all I liked my 1 night here, the room was clean and big, check in was fast and efficient and it was quiet at night so i could get a good night sleep.

    Generally great in every way

    rating02 May 2026

This was brilliant! I don't know what people are talking about giving this low reviews, because it was great. The food was great, even if overpriced, the pools were great, the destinations around it were great and the overall atmosphere was just fun the entire time.

    Nice stay

    rating01 May 2026

This was a nice resort with friendly staff. My room was spacious and clean, but the bed was too hard for my liking and the shower was a little small. The wifi was OK, but could be spotty especially at night. The food at the Thirsty Famingo was good, but it's really the only option in the area. The resort is out in the suburbs and there is really nothing much around. There is a bus stop about half a mile away that will take you into town. That is your best option as taxis are expensive.

Nice Resort style hotel in Cairns, away from City. WiFi - Unreliable !

    rating16 Apr 2026

Positives: There was Fridge, Kettle and Coffee Tea making facilities in the room. Free Parking is available at this Hotel. There is no swimming pool or gym at this hotel. The Beds were comfortable. Aircon is excellent. There are three pools at this property and a slide. There is a kids pool (shallow). Self service laundry was available which was nice. Our room had a private veranda which opened onto one of the large pools. The food at the restaurant was great. There is a child friendly resort with a play area. There is provision to heat your own food near the reception. Great Housekeeping service provided throughout our stay.Negatives · Wifi was intermittent and unreliable. Avoid if you need to work during your stay. Staff were poor with communication. Staff had no interest in helping with the luggage. This is very annoying when you are travelling with family and have lots of luggage to transport across the resort estate to your room. The sign boards and directions to the room were poor. It took us about 30 minutes to navigate from the reception to our room, as we had no help from any of the staff. It seemed like the Resort Hotel does not have a porter service. No lifeguard at any of the pools. The pool surface is unevent and concrete (not your usual pool, but guests seem to have a lot of fun at the pool).

    Decent budget accommodation.

    rating13 Apr 2026

Stayed at Cairns Colonial Club Resort as a budget family-friendly option. It’s an older property and definitely not 4-star. It could use some maintenance and updating, but the room, bed, and shower were comfortable and suited our needs. The pools get very crowded and noisy during school holidays, so not relaxing at peak times.Overall, it’s good value for a budget stay in Cairns if you’re mainly using it as a base rather than spending lots of time at the resort.Don't bother with buffet brealfast, not great. Duck into Cairns and grab breakfast at one of the amazing cafes there - next time I'd stay closer to town.
