Greedy- Unfortunate management service towards locals

    rating05 Apr 2026

Unfortunately we did not have a pleasant experience with the management here at all. We were unable to be provided any understanding or assistance with our reservation refund due to international flight cancellations outside of our control due to the Middle East war, despite our request being submitted 10 days before the cancellation policy deadline of 48 hours. Even when booking.coms extenuating circumstances team privately requested the hotel provide us a refund, Nita the manager was passive and unwilling to consider helping us, also local north Queenslanders. Greedy. We were just trying to get home safely and save our money where we possibly could amidst everything in the world right now. Very unfortunate and represents lack of goodwill and community ethics. We expected at the very least a more empathetic approach from Nita. Shame for the business that otherwise seemed great.

Perfectly fine for a budget conscious traveller

    rating04 Apr 2026

The hotel is budget but it is perfectly fine. The people with negative reviews clearly expect luxury with a shoestring budget. The shared toilets were a little rough but it was fine. The air con worked, the pool was fine. It’s a little bit of a walk to the marina but it shouldn’t take more than 15 mins. This is a good budget option if you just want to visit the Daintree and the Barrier Reef. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is because my card was deactivated before the end of my stay in some kind of glitch. However, a friendly staff member helped me within 10mins and was very nice. I called the after hours number and assistance was given pretty quickly. This place is completely fine, people just seem to expect the Novotel when they are paying for a family budget hotel. If you aren’t fussy and are budget minded, this place delivers.

Brings back memories of places I stayed at as a kid in the 80’s but not in a good way….

    rating13 Jul 2025

After a long flight to Cairns and a full day in the office I was looking forward to switching off and getting some much needed rest before returning home the following afternoon. Unfortunately the hotel I normally stay in was full so I was booked into the Cairns Queens Court.I arrived at about 7pm and was greeted by a friendly staff member at reception, I was quickly checked in and I went off to find my room. The feelings I had when I walked into my room is what I imagine someone’s first night going into jail feels like (ok I’m being a facetious) but I walked into a room with solid brick walls, a bed that was easily one of the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in, a smelly and very tired bathroom and a very loud air-conditioner. The room amenities was lacking to say the least, there was no table to work/eat and no iron/ironing board. Due to some of the people that I seen wondering the streets and hanging out in front of the hotel when I arrived I decided it best to order some uber eats and eat in my room rather than venture out looking for somewhere to have some dinner. Several times during the night even over the noise of the air conditioner I could hear people yelling and fighting in the corridor, after a terrible nights sleep (much of it spend on Trip Advisor reading reviews on this hotel) I made my way to reception shortly after it opened at 7am and happily checked out.Since this was a business trip I didn’t pay to stay here and I’m not sure how much it costs to stay here but like anything in life you get what you pay for so I’m hoping my company didn’t pay much. I certainly won’t be returning to Cairns Queens Court during my future trips (either for business or pleasure).

Peg your nose and walk on

    rating21 Jun 2025

Central location, what a dive of a place. Bathroom has the “chlorine”stench massively emanating throughout the small room with a noisy aircon, 100 year old carpet tiles and fitout. Window has no fly screen, so the fresh air you need to breathe stays outside. Bedding has damp sheets, mattress uncomfortably stiff with a middle mould. Bathroom floods when taking a shower with water pooling still sitting in the morning. ( hence overuse of chlorine)Bbq facilities as advertised has a coin operated gas plate, yet one cannot get a plate or cutlery anywhere. Wrestle your luggage up 4 flights of stairs as there is no lift. Good when you arrive on a bike like me…and park almost next door. If my check in wasent at 7pm with rain outside, I would have gone elsewhere. Woke up with a massive headache from this room. Restful nite? Surely not.By all means, move on. By the looks of it, it seem there are permanents living here too.
