    Great hotel

    rating23 Mar 2026

I have always enjoyed my stays at this hotel. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, the staff are attentive, and every detail felt taken care of. I couldn’t fault a thing. The location is perfect, making it easy to relax and explore town and close to the airport. I’d happily keep staying here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great hotel experience.

    Very Average

    rating13 Feb 2026

This hotel lists itself as a 4 star but it is definitely not that - 3 star hotel at best. The rooms are serviceable, and very average. The included breakfast was so uninspired we didn’t bother. The hotel had one person at the front desk who is also responsible for arranging the breakfast and who knows what, but it was hard to find them when we needed them. For some reason the hotel address doesn’t clearly lead to the hotel’s front door and our Uber drivers had trouble finding it every time.

    A very disappointing hotel

    rating18 Dec 2025

What a disappointment. This shabby, outdated and unclean hotel might be close to the airport but it is quite a distance from the city. On arrival my friend and I walked along the Embankment towards the City, we immediately noticed a lot of drunk people around the area and did not feel safe, so returned in an Uber. Breakfast is basic and unimaginative providing the same 3 varieties of tasteless melon, grapes and orange slices. When I complained that there was a lack of fresh fruit, they left out bananas! Our room was very basic, with an old blanket between two sheets on the beds. Here are some telling bullet points:- Aircon noisy and you could hear it dripping in the ceiling- Cracked tiles on bath- Filty holder for the glass shower door on the bath- a dirty clothes dryer string across the wall by the bath- Chip on end of bath- Floor tiles looked like they needed a good scrub as felt dirty- Overall the room was functional but old and tiredThe so-called restaurant had very worn and shabby tables and chairs that served for breakfast and dinner. The ‘cocktail bar’ was also the breakfast service area for cereal, juices, tea and coffee - nothing cocktail about it. The tables were covered in white paper sheets [I have never seen that before]. The bottoms of each glass window in the restaurant were filthy with crumbs and anything else dropped and looked like they had not been cleaned for years.Outside by the ‘pool’, I use that term loosely, some of the decking was cracked and covered in bird droppings. The pool and area was filthy.Overall, the general condition of this hotel would be more suitable named as a ‘backpacker’ hotel. It is not 4* affordable luxury at all. I will be advising our tour company of their poor choice. Especially for two women, given the neighbourhood. However, the young staff are all very friendly, young and helpful, they are ‘transient’ workers from other countries working to obtain a visa to go to the bigger cities and nothing was too much trouble.I would also add that the chef was extremely rude when I took some fruit and loudly said to a member of staff ‘are they going to pay for that’! He did not even bother to ask if we had a bnb option paid for.I’ve said enough.

This is NOT a 4.5 star hotel.

    rating24 Sept 2024

This hotel was part of a package that we had paid extra money for a luxury 4.5/5 star hotel. This hotel is NOT 4.5 stars even though booking.com gives it that rating or even 4 stars as other agencies rate it. If your are a tourist in Cairns this hotel is NOT for you. It is 3 km from the CBD, their courtesy bus doesn't operate any more, so be prepared to pay up to $18 each way in a taxi to visit the CBD where most tourist attractions are. Breakfast is very basic with a limited selection. But of main concern was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. (see attached photos) We had to move rooms as we considered the mould on the floor was a risk to our health. The baths in each room were also dangerous, with no non-slip mat in them if you were showering and for older guests very difficult to get in and out of. The room we were then given was not much better and located on the main highway north hence very noisy. While the hotel states that it has recently been upgraded, hence the 4/4.5 star rating, there were still some older appliances left behind (see attached photo) We had to stay here as the tours we had paid for as part of our package were scheduled to pick us up here. Very disappointed. Moral to the story DO NOT rely on star ratings!
