  I recently stayed at the Citysider Apartments in Cairns. Prior to arriving I read that Apartments had Foxtel, toiletries, free pool towels, linen change, clean towels & shower curtain change after 7 nights. Lovely balcony to sit outside.On arrival there was no toiletries, pool towels cost $2 & no Foxtel. We had to ask for a linen change & never got clean towels or a clean shower curtain. Our curtain was dirty & mouldy. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom which contributed to the mould on the walls & shower curtain.The filters in the dryer & washing machine were disgusting, never cleaned. The main bedroom was unhabitable due to the overwhelming stench.We were on the ground floor & the outside patio hadn't been cleaned for months. It's in the middle of nowhere with no public transport available. Promises a lot but gives very little! Best thing was the pool. We have nearly a thousand reviews on other booking sites. Please read them and also read your booking details we are self contained apartments. It seems you don't know what that means, and also are you to scared to review under your name. And if it was so bad why did you not come and talk to me.   Taking a friend to a wedding in Port Douglas

  Flew to Cairns for a weeding so made a reasonable break for us. Easy to find whilst driving in from the airport, very friendly reception staff. good explanation of the facility. We had a two-bedroom ground floor apartment, very spacious and very clean. Undercover parking and the complex were secure after 5pm, so entry with a swipe card to open gate when entering, gates automatically opened when driving out. Within walking distance to the McCloud Shopping Centre.

  Good price for the amount of space, but...

  The Positives: The top-level apartment was clean and spacious, with comfortable beds, plenty of light and fresh air (since the windows can be opened (there is also a balcony), and a good price for the amount of space. The washer and dryer worked well. Also, it took only about 25 minutes to walk to the center of Cairns downtown.BONUS: we could see the Kuranda Scenic Railway train go by from our kitchen window. If you have kids that love trains, check the schedule so you can watch it go by.The Negatives: The insects. Nothing scary such as large spiders or centipedes, but there were tiny ants on the bathroom counter, spider mites on the living room coffee table and dining table (but these only appeared when we had any food), and a couple of cockroaches, all of which we evicted quickly. If insects don't bother you, then you will probably enjoy your stay here.The main sofa was quite worn and the sofa cushion was cracked along the edges. Since that was the main seating area, that was kind of a bummer. Lastly, we had trouble with the security gate. We were not given ANY instructions on how to get out or in via the gate and there was no way to walk around the gate, which is ostensibly for cars, not people. We were at the point of climbing over the gate when a resident appeared and waved the plastic card attached to the room key at one of the posts. How difficult would it be to write the instructions on the plastic card? Especially since such pertinent information was not divulged by the reception clerk. Still, if it weren't for the three issues above, we would have rated this place four stars. We felt like we were in an actual apartment, rather than a hotel, which was nice for a change.

  Wow! Loved the 2 bed apartment we booked. Apartment 29. Brand new. Comfy couch, outdoor space, full kitchen facilities with a bath/shower and washing machine and dryer. Very quiet at the back of the complex which is gated. Don't let the train line put you off, don't even hear it and it's not early (8.30 am). Lovely balcony with table and chairs for 6. Tropical plants all around you, very private. Our front office customer service representative Champika went over and beyond to help us. So very friendly and just a nice person, such an asset to this property. Very close to City, coffee ☕ on corner. We'll be back for sure 😊

  Very good apartment, spotlessly clean and comfortable

  Well equipped with Everything you need in a holiday apartment, and very clean. The bedrooms in the two bed were quite small, but adequate for four adults and a five year old. The lounge area was comfortable with a small private terrace looking out over trees and a small brook. Well equipped kitchen which we cooked several mealsIn. Gated car parking. The apartments are approx 12-15 mins walk from the vibrant centre, there is a footpath at the side of the building which seems to shorten the walk. Our main purpose to come to Cairns was to go to Karunda on the train and back on the sky rail, a trip I have done several times and thought our grandson would love it, so we were disappointed that the train was fully booked for the three days we were here. Carla on reception tried every way to get us booked, and carried on trying whilst we were out, and messaged us to say she had managed to get us on the sky-rail both ways, with hotel pick up. Exceptional service, to thank you again Carla.
