Location

This hotel is located right in the heart of the city of Cairns, within walking distance of the award-winning Esplanade and the Great Barrier Reef. From the hotel, it takes about 2-5 minutes on foot to the main shopping centre, Cairns Central, the railway station and the CBD area. Cairns Domestic and International Airport is reachable in about 8-10 minutes' drive from the hotel.

Facility

8 suites and 50 double rooms are available to guests in a 3-storey main building and a 2-storey auxiliary building. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a drinks machine. Wireless internet access (for a fee) is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities and a lift. A number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service (for a fee), an alarm call service and a laundry service. Cyclists can make use of the bicycle storage area and hire service (for a fee). The business centre is on hand for guests' business requirements and provides a fax machine.

Rooms

Rooms are equipped with air conditioning and a fan. Guests can enjoy the garden view from a balcony or terrace. The rooms have a king-size bed and a sofa bed. Separate bedrooms are available. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. For self-catering guests, there is a well-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, mini fridge, microwave and tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a TV, a radio, a plug adapter, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub, as well as a hairdryer. Cosmetic products and a selection of towels provide additional comfort in the bathrooms. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked. The hotel has family rooms and 58 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

Soothing swimming awaits guests in the outdoor area's saltwater pools. Comfortable sun loungers are available on the terrace. There is a poolside snack bar as well. A variety of activities are available at the hotel, for example tennis, beach volleyball and fishing or, for a fee, cycling/mountain biking and horse riding. Guests can take part in a comprehensive water sports programme, which includes canoeing and snorkelling, with windsurfing and diving available for a fee. A wide range of indoor sporting activities are also offered, for example a gym and bowling or, for a fee, table tennis and callisthenics. A wellness area with a spa is available to guests. For a fee, massage treatments are also offered. Additional leisure activities include an entertainment programme, live music and a casino.

Meals

Dining facilities include a dining room and a breakfast room. Guests can enjoy the culinary delights of the non-smoking, air-conditioned restaurant, which provides high chairs for children. A generous breakfast buffet and a dinner à la carte are served every day. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    The Coral Tree Inn was quite a disappointment after an amazing trip. Poor quality dated room overlooking a main road and park, where street drinkers took up camp from 4am, still there in the morning when we went out. Situated next to a support hostel and emergency medical facility but good walking distance to the esplanade. Breakfast was served in a canteen, food perfectly acceptable but I felt I was 17 again at the YMCA. It does what it says on the tin but should be avoided if you’re looking for something a little more comfortable, with more luxurious facilities like a proper pool and maybe a bar. We would have happily paid more to stay at a better property but it was part of a tour. Do your research and avoid! Took the shine of what had been an exceptional trip.     Woken at 7.30 am to construction!

    Unfortunately our stay was ruined by excessively loud renovations that started at 7.30am. When we asked if they could start the renovations later we were told they were necessary, and that we should've checked the website as it was stated on there. When I checked the website it clearly stated "please rest assured that all work will be limited to standard business hours ". When I raised this with the manager she replied that it was standard construction hours of 7am until 8pm! The noise was so loud you couldn't hear someone talking in the room. On a positive note Adrian on reception was nice and they did offer us free breakfast. The room was clean and spacious, but after arriving late at night being able to sleep was the most important part of the stay.     Great value! The location was wonderful - walkable to Cairns night market and various other restaurants, bars, etc. There was ample free street parking. The staff was very kind. Would recommend.     Lovely hotel in perfect location in Cairns

    Stayed for 3 nights. We only had breakfast on one morning as our tours departed too early on the other days. It was in a good location with a pleasant 15 minute walk to the centre.We had an excellent room with nice shower and good air conditioning. The pool was nice and big enough to get a decent swim.The breakfast buffet was excellent and very reasonably priced.
