Location

The hotel is ideally located on the Cairns Esplanade, only a short walk from the heart of the city. The resort offers stunning views of Trinity Bay and the surrounding mountains. Cairns airport is approximately 25 km from the hotel.

The hotel has 3 lifts and features 242 rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     Honeymoon. Brilliant

    My husband and I stayed at the rydges whilst on our honeymoon . The room more than met our expectations. The staff were outstanding. Very polite always willing to help. The rooms were kept very clean. Food was of a very high quality. Breakfasts were amazing. I will stay there again.

    When we arrived the receptionist made much of the fact we had been given a free upgrade to a room with an ocean view. It turned out to be a family room with multiple beds for children with an outlook of a car park and local private hospital. We arrived around 1:30pm to be told the restaurant was shut and would not open today. Likewise they had no bar open either because it was a bank holiday! The room itself had air conditioning which the temperature could not be altered and a broken ceiling light in the bathroom with exposed wiring. The hotel is tired and definitely needs a redecoration. I am not happy that the booking agent Gold Medal travel even suggested this hotel which is meant to be 4 stars.     Property is old, needs updating.

    Rydges Esplanade is an old tired property. It needs significant updating. The staff was friendly and helpful. That said the room was spacious, clean, but had a musty odor. The property has a decent restaurant and a convenient, but not free, washers and dryers. It's location is a bit remote, about a 20 minute walk to 'town' if you want additional restaurants and some night life. Our stay was ok, but would not stay here again.     Great Family Hotel

    Location is perfect . Right on beach front with great views and right opposite Muddys Cafe which was wonderful for us and the kids. Atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and the best thing about this resort is its staff. Every single staff member was lovely, helpful, friendly and professional. Rooms were fine although a little tired. Noice level was quiet- we even slept though Cyclone Narelle !!Only down sides - need some balcony furniture outside to allow for sitting to enjot the view. Restaurant is a bit pricey but they do have Happy Hour 4-6pm which is good. Room Service left alot to be desired - didnt give clean towels, didnt replenish stocks or clean glasses/cups etc. but only happened once. Have stayed 3 times now and would stay again simply for the friendly staff and location.
