Location

Situated in the heart of the city, this apartment hotel and spa complex lies close to the beach, shops and restaurants of Macrossan Street, as well as the Marina Mirage. The Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, as well as the spectacular waterfalls, are the major attractions in Port Douglas. A bus stop can be found just 100 metres from the establishment and the national park is some 20 km away. Cairns International Airport is 70 km from the accommodation.

Facility

The apartment hotel has a lift and features 27 apartments. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Further services include a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. Bicycle storage is available to guests. Rooms

The rooms have a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom, as well as air conditioning, central heating and a fan. Guests can enjoy the view of the pool from a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Separate bedrooms are available. A safe and a desk are also available. A kitchenette with a refrigerator, a microwave and a tea/coffee station is also provided as standard. Other amenities available include a washing machine and an ironing set. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, a DVD player and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. A hairdryer and bathrobes are available in the bathrooms, which are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Bathrooms with wheelchair access can also be booked. The hotel has 27 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

Guests can work out or just relax in the outdoor and indoor pools. Kids can splash about in a special swimming area just for them. Comfortable sun loungers are available on the terrace. A wide range of sports are available, including water sports such as windsurfing, banana boat rides, snorkelling and diving or, for a fee, sailing. Sport and leisure facilities at the apartment hotel include a gym and aerobics. Guests of the hotel can pamper themselves with spa treatments and facilities in the wellness area. Services include a spa and a sauna or, for a fee, massage treatments.

The dining area includes a bar. A number of specialities await guests in the air-conditioned, non-smoking restaurant.

    Lovely resort within walking distance of centre and shops. Big spacious apartment with self catering facilities and several bbqs around the resortPool lovely and warm and plenty of sunbedsWould stay here again if visiting the area.

    Thank you to the wonderful team at Shantara Resort Port Douglas for such an incredible stay — it truly exceeded every expectation.Our 1-bedroom swim-out apartment was absolutely perfect. Having direct access to the pool from our own private deck made the whole experience feel luxurious and effortless — stepping straight into the water each day was something special. The outdoor spa and the spa bath inside the apartment took relaxation to another level and made it feel like a true retreat.The apartment itself was beautifully presented — spacious, spotless and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It really felt like a home away from home, but with that added sense of indulgence.What stood out most was the atmosphere of the resort. Peaceful, quiet and immaculately maintained, it was the perfect place to completely switch off. The adults-only setting made it even more special — a calm, relaxing environment where you could truly unwind by the pool or in your own private space. The location was also ideal — an easy walk to the beach, marina and main street, yet still tucked away enough to feel like a private oasis. Thank you for creating such a memorable experience. We left feeling completely relaxed and already talking about when we can come back.A truly special stay — and one we won’t forget.

    This is not a 4 star. Had to pay extra for maid service. So didn't get our room cleaned. Wanted extra for clean towels. Had washing machine but had to pay for detergent. Spa was closed due to lack of staff. Reception was only manned part time hours.

    Well, here we are at 7.09pm. Despite ringing to say we would be held up, message said to EMAIL them. Did so and was emailed a long list of instructions about AH checkin and also by text! A long day travelling from Melbourne and there’s NO STAFF at desk to assist and greet us. Not good enough…. Hope the stay improves!!!!

    The room (studio) was fine, nice bed, relatively spacious but be aware that house keeping is not included in the price of the room. It was clean but the bathroom felt quite dated. The rest of the ‘resort’ just felt soulless - no bar or restaurant, no ambience around the pool music etc. Reception closes early and you have let yourself back in after 6pm. It was just a bit odd!If you are staying more than a couple of nights I’d probably recommend getting a 1 bed unit as oppose to a studio.Good location - 5-10 min walk from main high street and beach. Free underground parking. Take mozzie spray for around the pool!
