Clean and Comfortable Budget Motel - Good for a One or Two Night Stay

This is an old hotel and the room and furniture have seen better days. Importantly though, it was clean and the bed was clean and comfortable. The AC worked fine and the shower was hot. All of the basic necessities were there in the room and the motel offers a basic continental breakfast that you can prepare in tour room. It is centrally located in Mackay, and the gardens and pool are appealing. As budget motels go, it is very good and I would happily spend a night here again. For the price it provides excellent accommodation.

The owner (or manager?) was accomodating with our late booking due to a major music event in town. We were allowed an early check in, even with the cleaners finishing our room as we entered the room. Friendly staff.

Very run down, dirty and reception is smelly However bed has fresh white sheets ..Apart from fresh clean sheets and plan to eat at a favourite restaurant in city, could have easily walked straight back out .. We stayed here about 8 years ago and although the building itself was aging, tired and needed attention , the rooms and reception were excellent.. …

Staff are rude and can’t be trusted

A room was booked for me to go to Mackay for a Work Cover appointment. The lady on reception was unfriendly, bordering on rude. I left my room at 4pm to go to my appointment and arrived back at 5.50pm to find a man (staff member?) in my room ‘fixing the curtains’. I had moved the tissue box and placed it next to the bed when I first arrived. This morning I grabbed a tissue and the box made a funny noise bumping on the lamp. When I checked what it was I found a glass meth pipe on top of the tissue box! Will never stay at this place again. Spoke to local police and they said they’re frequently called here.

The place is disgraceful. Room serviced only every second day, remote for aircon missing, exhaust fan in bathroom non-functional, lights needed repairing, generic remote on TV barely worked, TV turned itself on in the middle of the night and seems to be affected by other people using wifi in the vicinity - would change channel or programme or switch off without any actionby the occupants of the room. One towel supplied originally - had to ask for second towel (two occupants), bath mat, washer and hand towel. Staff not interested in helping - just wanted to argue and make excuses for what was wrong with the place. Came with a group - tried to argue about the number of rooms booked- tried to charge for an extra night.Worst stay ever!
