  The noisiest place I’ve ever tried to sleep

  The traffic noise was extreme. The curtains did very little to keep out the street lights during the night or sun in the morning.

  Disappointing experience and poor handling of a serious issue

  We stayed at Mantra Sierra Grand in January 2026 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience, primarily due to the condition of the apartment we were initially allocated and the way the situation was handled. We arrived after hours on a Saturday evening so there was no manager or hotel staff at the desk. We booked a 2 bed ocean view room for family if 5. The apartment had a very strong and persistent odour, was visibly dated, and did not feel clean. The smell was so severe that we barely slept and had to spend most of the night on the balcony. After-hours assistance attended but was unable to resolve the issue. The following morning, we asked for a refund or to change to another Accor hotel. We were told there was no manager available until Tuesday and that changing hotels was not possible. We were also advised that any refund would take several days to process, which meant we could not reasonably book alternative accommodation. As a result, we accepted a move to another apartment under protest and out of necessity. While cleaner, it was not like-for-like with what we had booked and paid for. The ocean view was significantly reduced, the bedding configuration differed, and there were multiple maintenance issues during the stay (including non‑working air conditioning, no working wifi, a fridge that did not cool properly, no bowels in the kitchen etc). We were shown another room which became available and was located next to our original room, however it was in similarly poor condition. On Wednesday the office manager agreed to a partial refund of $1,299.25 covering the uninhabitable first night, 1 x prepaid unused night, and an adjustment for the reduced view (out of good will according to them). We appreciated that, however it followed several days of stress, repeated emails, and time spent trying to obtain remedies we believe should have been offered earlier. While staff were generally polite, the overall response felt inflexible and left us feeling that the burden was placed on us to absorb the disruption to our holiday. The explanation that apartments are individually owned was repeatedly relied upon, which was disappointing given we booked through a large hotel chain expecting consistent standards. Based on our experience, we would think carefully before booking here, particularly if consistency of room quality and effective issue resolution are important.

  Convenient Location, Comfortable Stay

  We stayed for a short 2-night family holiday and booked the 2-bedroom apartment. Overall, we weren’t disappointed, but the room wasn’t anything extraordinary either. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay—clean, functional, and practical.The best part was the location. It’s hard to beat being just a 5-minute walk to Pacific Fair and the beach, and about 10 minutes to Broadbeach Mall. Perfect for exploring the area without needing a car.If you’re looking for convenience and a decent place to stay, this is a solid choice. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

  Disgusting - never again

  We chose the Sierra Grand based on its location and photos online (stupid I know) When we entered the 3 bedroom partial ocean view room 1503, I was disgusted. The room was clearly old and dated, but that wasn't the issue. There was grime throughout the kitchen and streak marks in a half attempt to clean it. There were stains on the couch, the carpet looked putrid and felt manky, I don't think it has ever been cleaned. I told the kids not to walk around barefoot. The beds were only made with a fitted sheet and a top sheet. No blanket/quilt. It was strange. I rang reception after 20 minutes and told them how disappointed I was and asked to move to another 3 bedroom. I was told they were all booked and there's nothing they could do. We didn't even unpack, we left everything in our bags as the wardrobes were disgusting, uncleaned shelves and musty and damp. The sad part is the luggage we stored in the wardrobes developed white/green furry mould underneath which we noticed when we were packing at the end of the trip. So the floor of the wardrobes must have been damp. When we lifted the lid of the washing machine the smell that came out was absolutely putrid and foul. We needed to wash our clothes but that was another level of disgusting. We did a load and grey grime sludge came out of the barrel holes and left stains all over a white piece. We spent as little time in the hotel as possible, hated being there, and that was our first family holiday since pre covid that we had booked and looked forward to, and we had to endure 10 nights living in filth. The hotel has its own residents and is pet friendly. We had an female senior standing in the middle of the elevator doors with her dog, and wouldn't move back to let us in the lift. We would have to had step over the dog or the lead to get in. She asked if we had an issue with her dog (as we weren't able to walk in anyway) I said yes my daughter is scared of dogs. She said 'bye bye then' and shut the doors. Hated this holiday, hated the money we wasted on it, loved the family time, but the hotel room should be reported to the health department. Disgusting- Room 1503, run a mile.

  No Creature Comforts

  Family & apartment oriented. No creature comforts you expect for this price. Lounges are old & no support so you sink, bed is very hard & no underlay/topper, pillows are old & extremely hard, blinds are sheer so up at the crack of dawn & no tv internet (bring your own chromecast). Outside pool is roadside, cnr of 2 roads with fence only 1mtre high so everyone can see you when you stand & noisy instead of relaxing. That said, very clean & close to transport hub & shops. Staff are so nice ut need to know more about area.
