  Disappointing, cannot recommend.

  I hate to leave a bad review but this one I have to. I will give the staff kudos, they were lovely even if the situation could not be helped. Hygiene is the main reason for this review, the hotel does not offer housekeeping and when I arrived the room was quite dirty, mould in the bathroom, stained sheets and blankets, crumbs on the floor and the fridge was disgustingly dirty with a foul odor. In addition the room is just in disrepair, every door was broken, holes in the walls and a horrible balcony. To top things off the shower was ice cold, I would get a blast of warm water but then right back to freezing. I approached reception with my concerns and again the staff were very nice but told me there were no other rooms available. I booked through a third party and contacted them to see if I could switch properties but it’s a non refundable and I cannot afford a whole new hotel. So sadly I am a bit stuck for the next few days and I cannot recommend staying.

  It’s nice.   Great for families and convenient location. The hotel staff were great, the hotel was a little older and in need of upgrade in some areas, we were thankful to get a renovated room but bathroom was old and could use a renovation, but we enjoyed the stay as it was great for kids which is why we chose it. Close to beach and tram, and Cavill Ave, waterslides are a bit dangerous for little kids. But good to have the pools and spas for kids. Lots of noisy construction nearby so would not be great for a quiet adult getaway. Overall we enjoyed it.   A fun concept and good value, but a little old

  I really loved the concept of the hotel, though unfortunately the hotel itself seemed a little old. The hotel was very elaborately decorated, with statues, fountains and other water features in the entrance and foyer. The pool was also pretty spectacular, just as well decorated, with two water slides and a 'beach' section with actual sand leading down into the water. The room I stayed in was very large, very good value for the price, and while the balcony on our level (level 5) didn't have much of a beach view because of the buildings in the way, it was still pretty decent and we could see a bit of the water between the buildings. The hotel did feel a little run-down though - for example, I noticed that the shelves in the bedroom were unstable, we were worried the shelves would collapse if we placed much on them. The balcony door from one of the bedrooms also wouldn't open, I don't know if it was deliberately sealed shut, but there was something blocking it from opening more than a couple of centimetres, and there was a very strong fragrance in the corridors that did seep into the rooms a bit. The location was decent enough, very close to the beach, though more like a 15 minute walk from the main parts of Surfers Paradise, and we didn't have any issues with noise, cleanliness or service.   Very filthy.

  The staff were extremely pleasant and lovely to deal with. Unfortunately the room was disgusting. I had a basic hotel room. The first room we were in, I found a used band-aid on the floor, the cutlery drawer was empty and filthy and the furniture was chipped. The latch to the door to the balcony was broken and you heard everything taking place in the bathroom next door. We were moved to a second room - the bed and sheets had what looked like blood stains all over them (including on the top sheet). It was so filthy and gross we ended our stay early. I knew the place would be "budget" standards before arriving - but the state of the bed and sheets was beyond budget.
