    Appalling!

    rating18 May 2026

Upon arrival everything appeared ok to the eye. Upon attending our room, the bath/shower was dirty, the bathroom door didn’t close properly. There was a brown stain on the sheet. The houseman attended to change the sheet and made a comment to the effect that the cleaner hadn’t done the bed. Upon attending the buffet breakfast. There were maggots located in the bottom of my tea cup. The staff were apologetic but didn’t close the area off. Unless you want to sleep on dirty beds and ingest maggots do not stay here.

    Great location, average hotel

    rating14 May 2026

Except to location, views and convenient parking everything is ordinary about this hotel. The room may have updated at some point but already looks dated and uninspiring although clean. One simple thing in life is shower pressure and it was attrotious and please don't have glazed slippery tiles in the shower areas please. The breakfast and the breakfast hall again jaded and uninspiring. Top location and a safe brand is all you get.

The Old Girl is hanging in there.....just

    rating15 Apr 2026

Stayed here for 6 nights in Easter School Holidays so that I could attend a sporting carnival for my daughter. The hotel definitely wins with its location - it is in the absolute heart of Surfers Paradise with the beach, shops, transport all at your fingertips. The hotel adjoins The Paradise Centre, so for anyone of a certain age you'll remember this as Grundy's. What this means is that the hotel is a remnant of a bygone era - when mullets, meter maids and Speedos ruled the Gold Coast. You'll still get the full experience today though, nightclubs/bars/entertainment venues being very close by, which you will definitely hear at night no matter what room you are in.I think these days the hotel seems to be a magnet for tour groups, or sporting clubs that need bulk rooms at a time, not that there is anything wrong with that. It just means that you'll be waiting a long time for lifts at certain times of the day. Rooms are fine, I would say they are of varying quality depending on what level you stay on - and there are definitely quite good views to the beach. Rooms are serviced each day as well, but this is a bit hit and miss in terms of number of towels, emptying bins etc. Staff are relatively friendly and appear willing to help out in general which is a plus. One thing I would definitely point out is that if you don't get the breakfast included in your rate, DO NOT pay for it - it is something like $42 per person and is simply not worth anything like that - it is a very lackluster offer both in food and overall amenity.Would I stay here again? If I absolutely had to I would for one night. But there are plenty (and I mean plenty) of other more modern options available if you are keen to stay in Surfers.

Good Novotel standard with stunning views

    rating21 Mar 2026

This 36-stories high Novotel is right in the heart of Surfers Paradise and it’s really worth getting a higher-floor executive room because the views are unobstructed and stunning. The room was also rather large as was the bathroom and the wood floor gave it a really classy, modern feel. Loved the little balcony as it was the perfect spot to enjoy the morning coffee. The hotel also has a well equipped gym and generally brings the Novotel standard very solidly. It misses of course the little personal touches of more boutique hotels due to its size but the staff were always kind and helpful.

    Great would return

    rating28 Feb 2026

Great location close to sea, city and sights. Highly recommend the breakfast buffet has everything hot and cold you could want. Beds large and comfy, sea view room which was spectacular at night. Staff very friendly and helpful, unfortunately maid service came after 4pm so we had to use same wet towels from day before. Swimming pool was warm and great for our son.
