  A memorable stay in a traditional Aussie hotel

  Exactly what I was looking for when I came to the Grampians! A traditional and original building in a small sea of modern structures!The bonuses were that it was in the centre of the small town, had a good bar with great bears and wines and had a reasonable restaurant.Is it a bit tired? Yes it is but it is currently being refurbished and the bed was very comfortable plus the room had a microwave, kettle and fridge. Was it a little bit dirty in the corners? Yes it was but again nothing dramatic excepting for the very picky! The bathroom was clean and the shower was great albeit with no mixer tap and even had a jacuzzi!It was wonderful to stay in a place with so much character and to be woken up by the local wildlife with bird song that was simply delightful!All in all you get what you pay for and the rates were cheap for the area and frankly speaking you get a lot for your money!Thanks for a memorable stay!

  Do your research and read the reviews carefully before booking. Positives - clean sheets, wifi, locationShane was pleasant to deal with and did what he could to help usNegatives - very rundown, desperately needing maintenance Clutter everywhere Mouldy, peeling ceilings Very dirty and dusty And we were overcharged- yet to have an outcome on our query about this.

  Agent had booked us 2 nights at this ‘boutique hotel’, after much searching we eventually found the entrance through an unkempt and ramshackle garden. Reception was at first floor level; it was dirty and chaotic with rubbish everywhere. Bits of building work seem to be going on with tools, piles of cut wood and sawdust strewn all over. We had to wait some time for the manager to be found and when he eventually arrived he seemed to think the state of place was perfectly OK. We could not bring ourselves to stay and checked out before we checked in and found a very nice motel opposite. As other reviewers this place is best avoided until they can get there act together.

  A little tired and in need of TLC

  Stayed 1 night at the Mountain Grand hotel. We had difficulty in finding the hotel as its hidden behind a tavern and the signage was very poor.Host was friendly and helpful, seems the have only just taken ownership and are busy upgrading/renovating the hotel. Room was clean with basic amenities. Access was from car park at back or through the upstairs bar/reception.No restaurant so had to go over the road to the Kookaburra, which was excellent.Need a lot of TLC to get back it’s charm.

  Booked online for a one night stay. Came to book in and reception was closing at 4pm? Alarm bells were ringing at the state of the premises and reception. Got our room key and were horrified by the conditions. Room was shabby and dirty, fingerprints on surfaces, dirty, mouldy bathroom. Unpleasant smell in the room and barely any space to walk around the bed. No one to complain to as reception was closed. My strong advice is DO NOT BOOK THIS ACCOMMODATION! It needs a total refurbishment and a thorough clean as well as some trained hospitality staff.
