  Filthy couldn’t stay a night

  Worse hostel I’ve ever booked in Aus or Europe. I booked a private for 3 nights. I couldn’t stay and left immediately. Loose stairs, torn curtains, pealing paint, only a bed sheet and no blanket and this was not the worst of it. I arrived to all the windows open, but still the room stunk I assume from deodoriser trying to cover up cigarettes and dampness. The worse was the cockroach droppings on the floor in the kitchen and alongside the bed. It gave me an asthma attack in under an hour. It was clean the floor hadn’t been swept in along time. I was just shocked when I arrive, took photos like a crime scene and frantically booked hotel in town. I didn’t last more than hour in the place. I’ve seen other feedback and their responses online so clearly they are aware of the issue but failing to bother to correct it. The excuses they give about a tropical climate is rubbish. I’d stayed the week before at Magnums backpackers which was immaculate as well as a hotel two mins walk away a no issues what so ever.

  Thank god I was only here for one night. Worst hostel experience of my life.The rooms were dingy and depressing, with uncomfortable and creaky beds. It was also freezing in the night, even without the AC, and we had nothing but very thin sheets. The bathroom was filthy and flooded. It didn’t feel safe as a group of young female travellers.The wifi didnt reach the rooms so you couldn’t even get a sense of escapism from your vile surroundings unless you want to stand outside reception.Would never stay here again!

  I see here on the reviews it is very mixed, I normally stay in motels so thought would try something different.I found the place very clean and tidy had a private room was quiet, the place in general looked clean and tidy found the girls at desk very helpful, had dinner out the front and the food was pretty good. Would stay there again

  Jake the night manager was extremely professional and made the whole vibe of the place awesome, all the crew there is the best but props to Jake, really clean, nice place to chill out, cheap drinks, local to everything

  WORST backpackers I’ve ever seen

  In all of my experiences of travelling, I’ve never come across a more unclean and uninviting backpackers. On first impression the reception area looks fine, but beyond that you start to see how unclean and dirty everything is. Walking up to our private room we noticed piles of leaves everywhere, dried up palm leaves blocking the path way, rubbish piled up in random spots and a shed full of old mattresses and random dirty furniture. The outside of the rooms themselves are run down, dirty and falling apart and the inside of the rooms are just down right gross! The walls and doors had weird brown and black stains/marks everywhere, there were dead bugs in the bathroom and kitchen and the floor was definitely not clean. We had to keep the aircon on because it was 30+ degrees but who knows what we were breathing in as the unit/filter was disgusting. I never leave reviews but I had to for this one because it was the worst backpackers I’ve ever stayed in.. and I’ve stayed in 50+ around the world. The entire grounds, rooms, amenities etc. desperately need an upgrade and cleanliness must be maintained. It was really disappointing having to come back to a dirty, uncomfortable room after great days out on the water and seeing the town. I really hope management sees this and actually does something about it, as I can see many other similar reviews. I definitely won’t be back!
