Location

The club resort is located directly on the beachfront, in the historic seaside town of Lorne, along the famous Great Ocean Road. Under two hours' drive from Melbourne, the resort is nestled between the crystal clear waters of Louttit Bay and the Otway Hinterland.

Facility

The hotel has a lift and features 278 rooms and 246 apartments. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel offers various facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air.     Our room was in Heritage Wing which translates to old and tired. Check in great. Staff friendly. Room good, bed comfy, nicely decorated plus tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom and shower very tiny with mirror and basin in the actual bedroom because there’s no room in the bathroom. Shower base in need of a deep clean which is especially noticeable when you’re in the shower. Buffet breakfast good but barista coffee ordinary.     Great beachfront mid-scale resort right in the middle of Lorne

    Great mid-scale hotel & resort located right beside the ocean in Lorne. Probably one of the very few hotel properties that is beachfront in Lorne. Service was really good. Front reception staff were very friendly and courteous, thank you. Breakfast was fantastic and great value for money, in my opinion. The lawns at the Mantra are very well kept and the beach is literally at your doorstep. We stayed in a heritage room, which was quite large and roomy. It's in the old 'heritage' part of the building, with lots of history and nostalgia. Car parking is ample and included in your stay. Wonderful. We'd stay here again no problem!     Right on the beach, shops over the road.

    Resort room with a classic view. My favourite part of staying here is being able to walk straight onto the beach. It's was a quiet & clean room with a very comfortable bed. The shower is over the bath which can be a problem for those with mobility issues so check before booking. It's quite a high bath to step over but it was very enjoyable being able to relax in it after a busy day. Buffet breakfast is delicious with plenty of variety. It's a reasonable price at $25. Coffee's extra unless you're happy with the Nescafe machine. Room service is disappointing with a $6 charge & it also comes in cardboard containers in a paperbag. I also can't workout why we need to walk through reception to get a towel for the pool. Not ideal when you're dressed for a swim. It would make more sense in the pool or gym area. There are upgrades being made at the moment but the noise wasn't a problem. Very minimal. Staff are all very pleasant & helpful.     Great location, but that’s where the positives end. The accommodation is very dated and poorly maintained. Shared areas in our block were dirty — dusty air vents, grubby floors, walls and lift.The room itself wasn’t much better, with stained furniture and chipped, worn paintwork. It also felt misleading to advertise an “ocean view” — yes, you can just about see the ocean in the distance, but it’s really more of a tennis court/garden view.Overall, a good spot, but cleanliness and upkeep need serious improvement.     What a disappointment. Starting with rude staff at check in, ok let’s not let that impact our getaway. Headed to the room, had booked one in the newer side. Entering the room there was a stench emanating from the bathroom. Took a while to remember basic bathroom drain maintenance, I poured water down the room drain and the stench was resolved. Why this is not done by Mantra on a regular basis is unknown. Settle in for the night, well tried to. The adjoining room were having a dinner party, not noisy enough to be unusual but the design of the building made it sound like they were in our room. Then more noise, ah people walking up the stairs confirming which room they were in. Not unreasonable but again the room was loud. Next day we decided to read in our room for a while, is that the neighbour laughing? No it was a group down at the bowling green. Fair enough they are having fun, but the newly double glazed windows did nothing to block outside noises. We love the location. Lorne beachfront is wonderful. The staff, building, rooms, and maintenance need improving to meet the expectations of the cost.
