  First time staying at Rydges Hunter Valley rooms were spacious and clean,staff helpful with extra pillows and blanketsthe bistro and brewery was a great place to eat without ridiculous prices that sometimes come with the Hunter Valley - even though it was Friday and Saturday night the food came out in a timely manner without a huge waitthe ciders from the Brewery were amazing and we are not really cider people!look forward to returning

  Great family stay — we’ll definitely be back!

  We had a fantastic stay at Rydges Hunter Valley and genuinely loved it. It’s a great family resort with plenty to do, beautiful facilities and a fantastic location. We’ll definitely be back!The **family apartments are spacious**, the location is excellent and the staff were lovely. The kids especially enjoyed the **large pool and water park**, kids’ games room, table tennis, tennis courts, basketball and golf course. The morning **train/kangaroo tour around the resort** was also a lovely touch and something different for the kids to enjoy.A special mention has to go to **Gather Restaurant** — we had a fantastic dinner and the food was excellent. And the **daily breakfast was honestly one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had in a long time**. Such a fresh and extensive variety, with complimentary real barista coffee and chef-made eggs/omelettes. A definite highlight!There are just a few things that could take the experience from a **good stay to a great one**:• **The pool and water park heating is the biggest one.** They are advertised as heated, including on the resort’s train/kangaroo tour, but unfortunately the water was absolutely freezing during our stay\. At the very least, the **main pool should definitely be heated**. For a family resort where the pool and water park are such a major part of the experience, this would make a huge difference and is something I think the resort should really look at fixing.• It would be great if the kids’ games room activities, slide and jumping castle were included, or at least reduced to a lower fee. I understand that charging does have one advantage — it keeps the numbers down, which is actually nice as the area doesn’t become completely swamped with kids.• The apartment configuration could be improved. Our kids’ single beds were in the room attached to the main living area, and it would make more sense for that room to be the parents’ bedroom with the king bed, particularly for families.• There was a persistent clicking sound coming from the kitchen/living area of our apartment which was quite annoying at times.• The apartments aren’t serviced as part of the stay, which would be a nice inclusion. The bathrooms don’t have ventilation and the windows don’t open, so the towels didn’t dry properly. **To the resort’s credit, when we asked for fresh towels they happily replaced them without any issue**, which was appreciated.• A couple of practical additions would be helpful — an umbrella in the room and a second door stop. Our apartment had connecting doors down the hallway and we had one door stop, but having two would have made things easier.These are mostly **minor improvements**, with the pool heating being the one bigger issue, and they certainly didn’t take away from what was an excellent overall stay.We loved the resort, the facilities, the location, the food and the family-friendly atmosphere. There’s so much to do without even needing to leave the property.**Thank you Rydges Hunter Valley — we had a wonderful stay, loved it and will absolutely be back!** ??

  The rooms were comfortable and clean. The grounds are excellent. The staff were very good, friendly and helpful. However, while the breakfast was good, the other meals were not very good.   Outstanding stay

  Situated right in the Hunter, Rydges Resort is great for those who love to play Golf, Tennis and spend some time with the family. The front desk team was incredibly welcoming, proactively offering us a map of the area and an unexpected room upgrade. We booked a hotel king room and received a room with a separate lounge area and spa. Our room was spotless and the bed was exceptionally comfortable, with blackout curtains for a perfect sleep. We opted to have breakfast out but we did visit the lobby bar, great for a morning and afternoon coffee. Drinks again prior to our departure to our event. The staff as always friendly and happy. The Rydges offers a relaxed resort style atmosphere, there is room to move. Our room was located on the ground floor, the only negative was the close proximity to the Fire Exit Door, as it slams shut, not ideal for rooms situated close. Value wise good, we booked via Qantas Holidays. Checkout was super easy as it was done via the self serve desk in the main foyer. The resort is well maintained but does show its age in some areas. The upgraded bathrooms are great. The kids area looks a touch tired but with a refresh it could be easily turned into a 5-star experience. In conclusion the Rydges offers great access to all wineries, terrific value with a wonderful, and relaxed location. We would gladly stay here again.   Relaxing stay, great staff.

  My husband and I recently enjoyed a relaxed stay at Rydges. An unfortunate incident occurred on our first night - a raucous gathering/party that continued till 1 am when staff finally put a stop to it after we had let them know a couple of times earlier - made for a very unpleasant night. When we let staff know the next day that we could no longer stay in the room with the same guests next door they did not hesitate to relocate us to a better, upgraded villa. After our first night’s disappointment we were more than satisfied with the lovely Jan’s handling of the situation, including providing a partial refund. We would definitely recommend the resort for an easy, relaxing holiday. Breakfast is fabulous and we enjoyed the nearby walking trails and the easy access to the golf course.
