    Poor customer service, nonexistent housekeeping

    I booked this hotel for my parents and wrote in to tag their name to the stay. I got a reply back saying I had booked a member rate and therefore would have to pay extra to do so. I wrote back saying I had booked a non member rate and to check again.I get no reply for a week and then two days before check in, a response saying that they had checked and saw that I had booked the 'lowest available rate at the time'. Like, what is this response? Does not address the issue, doesn't apologise for the error, still unclear whether my parents are going to be able to check in or not.I ended up adding my parents name to the booking myself online and never heard back from customer service again. Shoddy service, zero effort, do not recommend.The stay itself was uneventful but my parents always met with an engaged dial tone whenever they tried to contact housekeeping. They ended up getting new towels themselves from a nearby cabinet.I will be putting my parents in the Avani nearby instead. Highly recommend them to others instead of this place.     Visited whilst working at local hospitals. As a gold Accor member I received welcome drink and treats thank you.Good service from staff but not the usual Accor warm friendly welcome from other hotels like Novotel/Sebel/Pullman etc. Clean large room with good wifi.Hot shower with lovely soaps and moisturiser on bulk dispensers.No housekeeping but wasn’t an issue for my short stay.Good location near hospitals and shops if you want to eat your way through the awesome asian eateries.     A Perfect Stay – Looking Forward to Coming Back!

    This is our second time staying here, and my husband and I absolutely love it. The balcony offers an open view, and the room design and facilities are stylish and well-appointed. The toiletries are of high quality with a scent we really enjoy. The service is excellent, and both the gym and swimming pool are great. It would be even better if there were a hot water pool and a sauna. Looking forward to our next visit!     It is like coming home each time we stay here!

    We stay at the Chen at least 3 - 4 times a year, as it is close to where our son lives. We have been doing this for several years now and it is wonderful to return each time and the little touches that the hotel provides. It is only small, but we prefer mugs for tea and coffee, the hotel ensures they are in our room each stay, even though they are not in every room anymore. As gold Accor members, there is always a welcome gift, which includes drinks for both of us. It always surprises me when some Accor hotels only provide one drink for the member not the partner. And a handwritten note welcoming us back. Our granddaughter spends some nights with us, this is never a problem, they are happy to provide whatever we need to accommodate this. The location is excellent! Next door to Box Hill Central, easy access to a tram straight into the city or the train. Lots of shops for anything you need plus close to Doncaster and Chadstone. Great restaurants with a variety of choice. The only issue we have had is that sometimes housekeeping can be a bit hit and miss, this varies between visits, and it is not often enough that we would choose somewhere else to stay at present. When we have had problems the on-duty manager is always receptive, last visit they came up quite late to help us troubleshoot a problem with the TV. It is one of the most welcoming hotels we have stayed at.     Hotel is in a good location at Box Hill. Great amenities and public transport nearby. Staying at this hotel as it was near a wedding I was attending. The iron I was using was faulty, and I went down to ask for a new one as I needed one ASAP and staff was quick to respond and replaced the iron. Same thing when my TV froze and needed a reset. They were quick to react. Thanks to the staff for their promptness.
