    Great place to stay

Stayed at the Lodge as we'd stayed there on another occasion. The room was clean & spacious. We've stayed in a lot of motels/hotels & this one will be our first choice when visiting Melbourne again

    Great location, great stay

Stayed here a few times before. A warm welcome provided. Great location when you need to be in the eastern area of Melbourne. Wonderfully close to the bus stop into the city - literally a minute’s walk away. If you don’t have a car, local shops are a 10-15 walk down the road. Rooms are dated, which doesn’t worry us providing it’s clean. Our room could’ve done with some close attention to mould in the shower and around the bathroom taps (I cleaned with a tissue but a wee brush and Jif would make a difference). Fridge also needed a defrost but otherwise the rest of the lovely spacious room was great.TV stations are limited because they’re not smart TVs. However we know how much it’d cost to provide these in every room and after Covid, there won’t be too many accommodation places with spare cash just yet. Bed really comfortable (we like firm and it was perfect), room was warm in the autumnal chill, nice biscuits to munch, soft towels. Very happy, we’ll be back (again)!

Everything one needs for an overnight stay

If you’re attending an event at the lodge and need a bed for a night, I’d recommend Elizabethan Lodge. That’s what I booked a room for as I was going to a friend’s wedding. The rooms are a basic bed and bathroom but are very clean with sufficient toiletries. They provide towels, too, although they’re extremely small; if I’d known, I’d have brought my own larger ones from home. I was also surprised there were no hair dryers available.Note: no breakfast provisions are available so make sure to either bring your own cereal and bowls or find somewhere local to eat breakfast. You’d need to ask the staff about it, though, as there wasn’t anywhere obvious near the venue where one could buy breakfast.Staff were lovely and the grounds are absolutely awesome with their fairy garden vibe.

    Comfortable, spacious and clean

Yes, the room is a little dated but it's very well priced so not an issue. Booked the room via booking.com ... but first rang the lodge to see if they could match the rate so they'd get all the income. However, they wouldn't ... go figure.Stayed five nights at the last minute (husband suddenly in hospital). No weddings on so parking was easy. Gardens are quite lovely and at night they're very pretty with fairy lights.I was really comfortable, felt safe, had plenty of space to move and put my gear, car park right outside, quiet spot (amazingly) and good snoozy bed. Loved being able to watch TV from a sofa (rather than a bed) and I used the desk to draw or use my laptop. Also had a spacious bench to make breakfast or snacks.Getting in and out of the motel onto the main road was easy (school hols so roads are much less crowded). It's a solid half hour walk to the nearest train station and a pleasant (although somewhat noisy) stroll. There's also a bus along Middleborough Rd going to Box Hill station which would be worth looking at . However I worked out where to park close by Laburnum station without paying, so was relatively easy to get into the city and back without needing to take out a parking mortgage.Reception staff pleasant. Didn't use breakfast facilities, air conditioning or wifi, not that I was provided with a password. Every time I needed access, it was after reception closed so gave up.Definitely stay here again when we need accommodation in the east. Was very happy. Keep your expectations realistic and you'll be fine.

    Terrible customer service

    rating21 Oct 2019

I had reason to book some accommodation at this place. As I booked for over 3 weeks the total cost was around $3.5K. Immediately after booking, they withdrew 50% ($1.700) from my account.Subsequently due to losing the job I was travelling for, I contacted these people and advised that I needed to cancel. I was able to cancel but they withheld ALL my deposit. Over weeks I attempted many, many times to speak to the manager. Left messages, emails and even calling there but to no avail the manager would not speak to me. I tried to reason with the other staff but they advised the manager flatly refused to refund even a part of the deposit.Moral here is don't stay here as they are rude and arrogant. Greedy also springs to mind. It cost them nothing to take my booking but to keep all that money for nothing. Understandably, I am not impressed. Never stay here!!!!
