    Great location, amazing building, spacious rooms, what's not to like.

    I love staying in this grand old dame of a building, with its welcoming helpful staff, spacious clean comfortable rooms with a proper kitchen, and great location with easy access to the CBD, convention centre, southbank and public transport. The building is old with quirks and I did experience a minor issue but this was quickly sorted and did not impact my stay. I love the amazing architecture and high ceilings and history and I also enjoyed relaxing in the pool, spa and sauna. This hotel is also amazing value, with so much more space in the rooms than many places that cost more.

    Absolutely love this place, it’s my 3rd time back & it just keeps getting better with each visit. Staff are amazing & very accommodating making guests feel special & safe. The location is great with so many amenities on your doorstep. Looking forward to my next stay.

    A GRAND OLD HOTEL IN THE CENTRE OF MELBOURNE

    Stayed here as part of my anzac trip to Melbourne. Check in: Warm and welcoming by Dennis who kindly gave me an upgrade. Room: 435 on the 4th floor. Long walk to room but well worth it. I got an upgrade to a loft apartment! Kitchenette, entry way with desk/chair, dining area and lounge on the ground floor. Bedroom with queen size bed and ensuite on the 2nd/mezzanine floor. Very clean with all amenities including microwave, plates, cups/cutlery, tea/coffee making facilities. Slightly creaky floor on the stairwell. Location: Perfect. One of the reasons i chose this hotel (along with the reasonable rates). Right on spencer street, a block from southern cross station, close to transport/trams, attractions and restaurants/cafes including a Woolworths supermarket just a block away at southern cross station. Check out: Much better than last time. Staff member kindly left my suitcase behind the reception staff in a locked room. Very easy and friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again when next in Melbourne!

    Loved this elegant hotel for its comfort, its welcoming staff, best location, the quality of the rooms and its historical glamour. It’s in the repurposed Victorian era Victorian Railway headquarters & is gorgeous ! GHM is great value. It’s close to public transport with easy adjacent tram routes; the ferry to Portarlington is a 500m walk and it’s only 200 m from Southern Cross Station & Skybus. My interesting room was very comfortable. Great staff & manager Denis remembered my name as I went in & out: notably friendly and obliging, sorted any queries immediately. I will certainly return. Thank you Denis and staff.

    I loved my stay here. What a beautiful historic hotel, with just the right amount of modernisation. My room was great, the bed comfortable. A kitchenette where I prepped my coffee and breakfast. The hotel is located centrally, and is close to the train/bus depots. Shout out too, to the really lovely staff there.
