  Another flawless stay!

  Another wonderful stay at this well located and exceptionally priced ibis styles in Melbourne city.The hotel was easy to find with parking out front and the car park close by.Getting in touch prior to arrival with a small room request was easy and Mr Ravi was both professional and accomodating. Our stay included the buffer breakfast and although I miss the previous cooked breakfasts the buffer was very nice and most importantly had awesome hash browns(yes not always available at different hotels for breakfast) and a plentiful supply of orange juice that was never let diminished (also often happens at other hotels at breakfast)The room as a loyality members was upgraded and was quiet and spacious with everything we needed.I had to say an absolute pleasure to meet ivone at breakfast who took extremely good care of us and our whims whilst making the best barista coffee for elite members. Highly recommend this as an option. She is an absolute charm and an asset to the ibis. Along with Alan and Henry they are the A-team at breakfast.Mr Sam and Ms Grace always hard working in housekeeping but always with a smile as you pass by and a lovely good morning sets your day off to a wonderful start.Finally Maria and ELL at reception along of course with the most lovely Mr Ravi has all your check in check out needs taken care of.The building is heritage and has an interesting history, if anything Fri and sat can get busy just request a quieter room in these nights but apart from that the Ibis Kingsgate offers extremely great value and all in an excellent location.See you all again soon.   Leaving a 1 star review because the staff were pleasant. We paid $2200 for a 3 night stay. It was a basic budget room. No problem. The problem is, it is next door to a night club. It gets louder as the it gets later and there is no escape.I write this not to complain, but to warn people.   Located close to everything. Single room was small, but had all I needed. Clean and a very nice bathroom.Best thing: smoking balcony on first floor. So smokers would not have to stand in front of hotel.   Excellent location but needs better soundproofing

  Excellent location in the CBD near Southern Cross station, tram stops and Skybus, Woolworths and 7-Eleven just across the road and the bigger Coles supermarket near the station. There are a number of restaurants nearby, Indian restaurant next door, Nandos, and rare steakhouse 300m away.The continental breakfast was ok, with coffee machine, fruit juices, toast, pastries, cereals, melons, peaches, yogurt, I particularly liked the pancake machine. You can have a cooked breakfast by paying extra. There is also a gym and laundry room but I didn’t use. My room was spacious with a safe, fridge, AC, tea/coffee, iron. I would have preferred if the shower had a hand held head rather than a fixed one.The only issue I had is that the room was not soundproof, the walls are very thin I could hear the guests talking in the next room, talking in the corridors, I was on the second floor and I could hear the noise from the pub downstairs even with the window fully shut.   The hotel is in a really great location, one street back from Spencer St train station, making it easy to get to from the airport or if travelling by long-distance train. It's also very close to the Bourke St Woolworths Metro for any last-minute groceries or items and there are many restaurants nearby for easy eating. The Wi-Fi was a bit spotty, however, overall it was very clean, quiet and a great place to base yourself to explore Melbourne.
