    We arrived early in the day after a long international flight. Our room was not ready, as expected because we were early, but Jason at the front desk got us settled in at the InterContinental Club for breakfast and took care of storing our bags untilour room was ready. He gave us suggestions on where to head out to explore. When we arrived back a few hours later, our room was ready and our bags had been delivered. The hotel is an elegant old building that has beautifully restored. The InterContinental Club is a highlight of the hotel. It is next to the registration desk in the hotel’s atrium on the level above the hotel bar and restaurant. The Club is in a prominent location in the hotel - not tucked away in a corner as in many hotels. The food was fresh and plentiful with several offerings a day - breakfast, high tea and cocktails and canapés. I highly recommend this hotel!     History meets luxury

    Lovely historic hotel in a fabulous location. From the moment we arrived at reception until checking out the staff were so friendly and helpful. This beautiful hotel was so relaxing for us and our room was just lovely. Located a short walk to Marvel stadium and crown casino it is well positioned. The bar was a nice place to spend an afternoon . My only complaint was that the heated pool was a bit too cold for me and since we judge hotels on their pools ( our favourite relaxing activity) I was unable to go in. I could have tried the spa but it looked a bit dirty. Overall a lovely stay .     First room was wet and second room had another guest's items

    Stayed at the Rialto, the first room we were given had an extremely wet carpet the moment we entered the room - and because there was a part of the room that had tiling it created a big slip hazard. We were given another room to which we discovered had a bottle of champagne that was for another guest on the desk of the room.     Location of this Intercontinental was very convenient to Melbourne city. The rooms were large, modern, and clean, the included breakfast was very diverse and tasty.     Ageing Intercontinental

    Down at the quiet end of Collins St, it's a bit of a walk to the centre of town. Take the tram, as the hotel is within the "free tram zone". The hotel is sandwiched between buildings, so the "view" is of the interior of the hotel. Not much to look at, but still better than a brick wall. Hotel is aging, still nice and comfortable. Decent size for the standard room. Tech is ageing - tv and no USB-c means upgrade is needed. During the Grand Prix, you could play with slot cars at the bar.Breakfast was solid, but not spectacular for a 5-star hotel. Would wonder how they cope when occupancy was higher; as staff were running around and food was running out at some stations.Pretty good hotel, but needs to improve its' offering.
