    Perfect for am MCG visit

    rating17 May 2026

f you are heading to the MCG, this is an excellent place to stay. A word of caution though — on game days parking is at a premium and the car spaces are very tight. Thankfully, there is a tram stop right out the front, making trips into the city very convenient for those wanting to explore Melbourne. The meals were great, the room was well appointed, and the overall stay was very comfortable. The only downside was that the bar area became extremely crowded and noisy with game-day patrons, which at times impacted the experience for overnight guests using the facilities. Middle of the road

    rating26 Mar 2026

I was disappointed with several aspects of my stay. On arrival, the room had a number of maintenance issues. The television was not working initially (although restarting it resolved the problem), and throughout the stay it was very hit‑and‑miss whether it would work first time, which I was told is a known issue. The air conditioning was not functioning, and one of the power sockets in the room was also not working. When I tried to report the air‑conditioning issue, I was unable to use the room phone as it also wasn’t working, so I went down to reception instead. Unfortunately, the receptionist appeared unsure how to handle what should have been a fairly straightforward concern. There was no apology and no real sense of care or urgency. He defensively stated, “This is the first I’ve heard of this,” despite the fact that I had only checked in less than an hour earlier—which is precisely why I went down to report it. After consulting with someone out the back, I was told that maintenance would attend the room. The maintenance technician who attended was excellent. He took the time to explain that there had been an earlier leak in the system causing air‑conditioning issues throughout the hotel, that it had since been fixed, and that the room would begin cooling down. His professionalism and communication were greatly appreciated. Perhaps this information should have been communicated to reception staff. Unfortunately, he was unable to fix the faulty power socket—certainly not the end of the world, but inconvenient as it was the one located next to the desk. The bed was comfortable enough. Housekeeping was adequate overall; however, several items were not replenished, and service was quite late in the day (around 3–4pm). As I had been out exploring most of the day, it would have been nice to return to a freshly made room rather than having to rearrange plans to vacate the room when housekeeping eventually arrived. I didnt use the pool, as it didnt look all that inviting. The club lounge was also quite disappointing. After spending a significant amount of time sorting out the room issues, I went up to find that soft drinks had not been restocked, several tables were messy, and there was very little in the way of snacks. During the evening canapés, the lounge was extremely crowded and I struggled to find a table, even as a solo guest. I wasn’t sure whether there was an event on or if this level of crowding is normal. The drink selection was quite limited (a few beers and wines), although the food itself was good. Due to the noise and overall atmosphere, I left as soon as possible and did not return the second night, as it felt quite overwhelming. On a positive note, breakfast in the main restaurant downstairs was very good and far calmer than the club lounge. Given the lounge’s small size and limited space to move around, the restaurant was a much better experience. I think overall my stay was OK, I don't believe it was good value for money given the issues I experienced and what I had paid for the room, for that reason I would struggle to return.

    Suits our needs

    rating24 Mar 2026

We really like this hotel, staying on the 18th floor with access to the lounge for a good coffee/hot choc and a quiet breakfast is v helpful. Stuart is to be commended for his attention to detail in remembering our preferences and also being chatty but never overbearing - please pass this on. This is our third time at this hotel, there's a tram just outside, it's a great base to get to and from the airport and has a carpark underneath. Only one grumble this time is the a/c was a bit loud.
