    Really good hostel

    rating28 Apr 2024

The breakfast option that you could add on had a good choice from berries and waffles to toasties with a coffee included. The rooms were nice, the shelve and locker in the beds were very helpful. There were curtains too! The female only bathroom on the first floor was very nice and there was lots of space to chill around the hostel. Would recommend. Lovely stay for a couple who were non drinkers

    rating26 Feb 2024

Stayed 10 days with my partner. Although lots of reviews describe this place as a party hostel we had no issues with anything related to noise. We stayed in a private room on the 2nd floor and while the hostel accommodated drinkers we weren’t affected at all. I have stayed in many Selina hostels throughout Australia and the rooms were brilliant as hostel rooms go so no complaints there. Location was excellent, right next to St Kilda beach with a tram stop outside to the centre.Huge shoutout to the staff, especially AJ and Maria who really went above and beyond for us when we wanted to upgrade our room. I couldn’t fault the stay, 10/10 from me.

    Not for non-drinkers

    rating14 Feb 2024

Arrival: Upon arrival I was greeted by a new guy who was pretty new to the St Kilda gang. He seemed very lovely but it did take him a while to get me checked in. 15 minutes later I was still standing there waiting for him to tell me what was happening so perhaps better communication from him in the future would come across more friendly to new arrivals. Rooms: When checking into my room, the room was super spacious and the beds were definitely the best I've had yet, with lockers above the beds and space underneath too. The best bit is the curtains to allow for a bit more privacy when wanting to chill in your room. The walls are PAPER-THIN though so you can literally hear everything from the corridors/out the windows from downstairs. If you're on the bottom floor, you're pretty much stuffed cause I would class this as a party hostel and you're never gunna get much sleep. People: The people at this hostel seemed really friendly. I did bump into a lot of Dutch people though and in my opinion are not the friendliest. The hostel hosts events most nights - pretty much 100% of which involve drinking. So, if you're a non drinker it doesn't really cater for us. There was not 1 event I saw that didn't involve alcohol and as a non-drinker I would have liked to see more of that. I was mostly looking forward to beach volleyball and 'peer pong' but these were cancelled for no reason so that was pretty disappointing. St Kilda Team: The cleaners are really lovely and got a really good vibe from all of them - there was one particular guy from Columbia who was an angel! As for the Canadian receptionist, you should get another job... sorry but being front-of-house is not your skill - you are so unfriendly and made everyone feel so on-edge. The tall skinny guy on reception was also really sweet. Location: The location is right by the beach, only a 5-minute walk so really great location and also right by the tram station.

    Selina

Selina was one of the first hostels I've ever stayed, though the staff were friendly and welcoming which making me feel comfortable right away. I stayed there for 3 nights in a 4 bed dorm and could have stayed longer since the beds are really comfy and the curtain gives added privacy. So great staff and rooms i would definitely stay again.
