  On entering the building it was wow, smelt clean.The apartment was amazing, everything supplied & furnished beautifully.The bed was very comfortable + great pillows. Outdoor spa was amazing.Highly recommend to family and friends.

  Relentless traffic noise from Bay Road spoilt 5-night family Christmas holiday

  After months of research and planning (and booking 9 months in advance), I feel like we drew the short-straw on our 2-bedroom apartment allocation (especially after reading glowing reviews). Our 2-bedroom apartment’s living areas and bedrooms all faced Bay Road and the traffic noise from this busy main road was relentless. None of us slept well for our entire 5 night stay. We couldn’t even have the living area doors open, let alone use the balcony due to the constant traffic noise. The small two-bedroom apartment was clean and nicely furnished with comfy beds but none of this mattered because we were all sleep deprived and unable to enjoy the space due to traffic noise. The narrow lap pool was nice but very small given the number of residents/guests in the entire complex. It was too crowded to use most days (and we tried at many different times over 5 day stay).So overall, very disappointing — especially given peak-season rates ($450 per night) and our first ‘away’ Christmas to catchup with family since Covid. Stunned that no other reviews mention traffic noise! Despite friendly staff, find it difficult to recommend unless maybe you can guarantee an apartment not facing Bay Road.

  Small, modern apartment lacking some attention to detail

  We had a recent 2 night stay in these apartments to attend a wedding. We are a family of 4 so we booked a superior 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. We arrived after hours and the contactless check in process was well explained for keycard retrieval. I liked that there were allocated undercover car spaces for each apartment.Unfortunately, we were allocated an apartment with only 1 small bathroom. The managers acknowledged this mistake and the final charges reflected the 2 bed, 1 bath apartment. However, it did leave us somewhat inconvenienced as we tried to prepare/look good for the wedding using one tiny bathroom. I should say I have 2 teenage daughters! The beds were really comfortable but there was no space around the bed to lay out our luggage. The rooms were very small. I also requested the second bedroom be arranged as 2 single beds in my booking but this was not done. The kitchen was well equipped and the apartment was furnished with modern decor. I was grateful for the washing machine and dryer. There was mould on the shower floor tiles which was unsightly and we had a towel with some stains on it. These areas could be improved.The cafe and IGA within the building complex were super convenient. Wifi was excellent. These apartments are good if you need to be in the area otherwise, I would look elsewhere for a bigger apartment to suit a family of 4.

  Modern, Spacious & Clean

  The one bedroom apartment was spacious, modern and clean. There was ample space and a balcony with tables and chairs. There was sufficiently applied in the kitchen as well as the bathroom. Laundry facilities available. The cooling system is in the living area, and so on a warm night you need to leave the bedroom door opened to allow the cool air to come through. Designated parking is also available. Check in and Check out were very smooth. The receptionist was very friendly and even remembered our reason for staying. There is a gym and a pool available. However, we were unable to use them as they had a power issue which they communicated with us prior to our stay. And we were given the opportunity to cancel.

  A home away from home

  My family and I stayed at Sandy Hill Apartments for 3 months due following our repatriation back to Melbourne from overseas whilst waiting for tenants to vacate our family home. At a very difficult time, our 3 bedroom apartment at Sandy Hill apartments became our home away from home. The apartments are extremely clean and comfortable and common facilities (gym, pool) are modern. The underground car parking is secure abd the additional storage cages very useful. The IGA and Full Turn Kitchen Bar, an on-site fantastic cafe, is extremely convenient and often was our savour. Doing a 5 day lockdown in temporary accommodation is not easy however the staff went out of their way to ensure both my teenage children were able to set up workstations for online learning. The location is excellent, being a short walk to spectacular beaches, cafes and restaurants plus a major shopping centre (Southland). Lucy and her fellow team members in reception are absolutely wonderful. The prompt service to any calls or emails throughout our stay was faultless. They helped with taking deliveries, ensuring our wifi was efficient, providing additional kitchen supplies when needed, and doing so always with a friendly and very welcoming manner. The weekly cleaning staff were brilliant being fast and efficient.We will miss our home away from home and will certainly be recommending Sandy Hill Apartments for all our family and friends. It’s wonderful.
