Good hotel but rooms need an update/ refresh.

    rating19 Apr 2026

I recently stayed in a two-bedroom open plan room and overall had a good experience, with a few areas that could definitely be improved.Positives:The location is a standout. I personally enjoy staying just outside the CBD, and this spot made it really easy to get around with a hire car. Parking at the hotel was simple and reasonably priced at $40 per day. Being close to Chapel Street and Toorak Road was also a big plus — there are plenty of great food options nearby, and anything you forget to pack can easily be picked up along those streets. No issues with the noise levels, it was quiet in our room. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious, and the restaurant staff were warm and welcoming. The beds were comfortable, and the room itself was spacious enough for two people to stay comfortably.Negatives:The rooms are in need of a bit of a refresh. All of the curtains were quite worn and falling apart, and they didn’t close properly, which meant a lot of harsh morning light came through. The lighting throughout the room, including the bathroom, was quite poor — overall quite dim and not very practical.I also slipped in the bath/shower, which was a bit concerning. It would be a good idea to provide waterproof bathmats, especially for children or older guests. The reception experience could be improved. I was given conflicting information regarding an enquiry, which led to a lot of back and forth and ultimately a waste of time. A more consistent and helpful approach from staff would make a big difference.A couple of smaller details also stood out — room service delivered a bottle of sparkling wine with a cap but no way to open it, and the tray was left outside our room for over a day, which wasn’t ideal.Overall:I still enjoyed my stay and would consider returning, as the location and overall comfort are great. However, with some simple improvements — particularly updating the curtains, improving lighting, and refining service — this hotel could offer much better value for money and an even more enjoyable experience for future guests.

Time for a refresh - hotel and staff

    rating30 Jan 2026

Recent visitor during the Australian Open and have stayed here previously but not for a while. Accor Platinum member. Staff at Reception and in the Restaurant / Bar were perfunctory - breakfast not good value for the price, and friends found the service patchy. As others have noted the hotel is getting tired but the balcony rooms are spacious and well appointed, and South Yarra is a great neighbourhood for food and drink so it's a line ball call - if you get a good rate probably worth it but if not shop around.

    Unacceptable Noise

    rating18 Jan 2026

Unless you intend to be away from your room from 7am until 4pm on week days DO NOT stay here. There are major building works taking place next door with the construction of an apartment building. Jackhammers and pile drivers are operating non stop from 7am. Not only does it wake you up but the constant noise makes it unbearable to stay in your room. On Fridays and Saturdays redneck hoons park at the traffic lights out the front reving their engines and screeching their tires at 1am in the morning. It’s a well known fact in the suburb that this happens every week end.

    Splendid

The welcome drink, free lollies, ice pops. lol amazing. Loved the room, so handy for self catering, clean modern room. Only drawback the view but nothing that can be done about a block of flats opposite lol. Just make sure you pull down the privacy blind. Unless you want to give a free show. Whatever floats yah boat ! Pool looked great but was a bit chilly when we were there so didn’t use it . Great location, not too far from South yara station and only 2 stops from flinders station. And free transit for December and January beacause of the metro west tunnel opening! Will defo stay there again.
