Not Sure This Location Can Be Beaten

    rating09 May 2026

This was a staycation for us as we live just over an hour from Melbourne. We picked the hotel because it is bang next door to the Regent Theatre. And at gone 10 o’clock at night on a chilly Melbourne evening. Walking next door beats getting the train or driving home after being to the Regent. We had heard some great things about the Westin over the years. And it didn’t disappoint at all. WOW. Loved it. And there were some frustrating elements. And yes, minor and possibly petty let downs. We booked the option of a valet service and worth every cent. From the second we were met at the driveway to the exceptional service at reception. This hotel is just great.Yep, it maybe a little dated with rooms not that modern. But I liked it. The facilities are all you need. The room is large for Melbourne and the black out curtains, possibly the best I have ever experienced. There was little noise from the corridor but nothing that bothered me, a light sleeper. Bathroom both separate shower and bath (5 star must have), but just one sink. Lots of mirrors, and one mirror over the toilet, maybe over kill for mirrors. The light switches took some getting used to.The gym and sauna functional for a short stay, and the pool looked really good.Didn’t try the restaurant as the pre-theatre menu was very limiting, particularly as I’m gluten intolerant.Would I stay again, it would be difficult not to.Overall, I would give this 4.5/5. Why not 5/5? The towels in the bathroom, were like cardboard. The slippers, 1 star not 5 stars, and the staff on the front door, although very pleasant, could have been more alert with opening the doors closest to them. Petty, maybe but would expect this from a 5-star hotel. Otherwise, would have been 5/5. I felt really relaxed staying here. These are my other thoughtsStaff – polished, very polite and a joy to speak to. 5/5.Room – great size, if a little dated, very quiet. Didn’t hear external sounds. Great for central Melbourne. But room slightly dated 4.5/5Shower –controls a little dated, that made control of heat and pressure a little tricky. And not being able to close the shower door because the door wouldn’t easily go over the shower mat , was frustrating 4/5Kitchen – non. This is a hotel not an apartment. But it had a coffee maker and a weirdly stocked mini-bar, not used.Bed – it was a little weird, kind of felt like it wasn’t supporting you yet really comfortable and the sheets were a dream…4/5Cleanliness –spotless 5/5Location –we know Melbourne well, and for the CBD, it doesn’t get any better than this as far as we are concerned. It was perfect 6/5Facilities – gym not the most modern or large, but had an enjoyable Sunday morning workout. Swimming pool would be great for short laps, couples and families. Sauna, hot, very hot. Loved it. Didn’t try the restaurant or the bar, which was a shame, maybe try the bar next time.TV – didn’t use it but does have Chromecast plus free to air channels. This hotel is well worth a visit

    rating22 Apr 2026

I decided to treat myself and my daughter to Christmas Eve at this hotel. It wasn't cheap but I felt the inclusions were worth it. Being so central to the shops, it was a perfect location to do some Christmas Eve shopping and then come back for a rest before dining out for a late lunch. We then ordered room service around 8.30pm which was exceptional and good value for money. There was a bit of a mix up with our breakfast but the staff were prompt and very professional in sorting this out for us. The buffet breakfast had something for everyone and we enjoyed all that we had. The room was exceptional...large, amazing comfortable beds and quilts and the bathroom was huge. We were just disappointed that we couldn't have spent a couple of nights there to really enjoy it more. Being Christmas, the foyer was decorated beautifully. It was nice just to sit around the foyer and enjoy the atmosphere. The staff were all well mannered, attentive and did their roles well. I most certainly would return to this hotel again after this experience. It was one of the few we had never stayed at in Melbourne before. The location is exceptional if you are walking. Car parking (valet) was a little bit too expensive I felt, but it was convenient to use it. Westin Melbourne, General Manager at The Westin Melbourne, responded to this review Dear Jane D,Thank you for choosing to spend your Christmas Eve with us. We’re delighted to hear that our central location, festive atmosphere, and spacious room helped make your stay special for you and your daughter. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed both your dining experiences and that our team were able to promptly assist with the breakfast mix‑up. Your kind words about our staff and service truly mean a lot to us. We also appreciate your feedback regarding valet parking and will share this with the team.Thank you again for choosing to stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.Stay well

    Great Service and Location

    rating19 Apr 2026

I chose this hotel for the location and couldn't have been happier for a first ever visit to Melbourne. It is very central to shopping and restaurants along Collins St and Elizabeth St. It was easy to get to the river walk area and a short hike to the Botanical Gardens as well.We had a deluxe king room, which overlooked the downtown area with a large bay window, which made the room very sunny and bright. Although an older property, everything has been renovated with modern touches. The bed was comfortable and there was lots of space to move around. There was a small mini fridge and lots of closet storage. The bathroom had two sinks, a tub and separate shower. The only issue with the bathroom was the lighting was rather dark and it was difficult to see at times. The service stood out here, as the staff were always smiling and friendly when you encountered them. Check in was quick and pleasant and housekeeping was efficient. There was no self-service ice machine, so I needed to call every time I wanted ice for drinks in the room, but they were always quick to deliver. It was a short four night stay, but everything here was top notch and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Westin Melbourne, General Manager at The Westin Melbourne, responded to this review Dear TheHawk1,Thank you for choosing to stay with us during your first visit to Melbourne. We’re so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time with us and felt well‑looked‑after throughout your stay. It’s wonderful to know your room provided a comfortable base and that our team’s warm and attentive service stood out. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the bathroom lighting and ice service — this is helpful and will be shared with the team. We’re delighted your visit left such a positive impression, and we’d be thrilled to welcome you back on your next trip to Melbourne.Stay well

    Excellent location

    rating11 Apr 2026

Very good hotel ; great location in CBD and easy to get to from the airport via link train to Southern Cross station and then a tram ride/uber or 20 min walk. Room was very spacious with excellent rainfall shower and very comfortable bed/pillows. Reception staff very helpful as was concierge. Didnt have breakfast in hotel as so many places around the hotel. Strongly recommend Chin Chin for pan Asian dinner (need to book). Would definitely stay here again Westin Melbourne, General Manager at The Westin Melbourne, responded to this review Dear Road801778,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
