Mantarays Ningaloo Beach (Not) Hotel Exmouth

    rating24 Apr 2026

I don't want anyone to be disappointed like we were. Booking.com states that Mantarays has an infinity pool? IT DOESN'T. Booking.com's description of the hotel states that you have Direct access to the Ningaloo Reef. YOU DO NOT. Ningaloo reef is 40 minutes drive away. If you are going to book into Mantarays MAKE SURE YOU HIRE A CAR. The small town of Exmouth is a 40minute walk away. Mantarays is situated by the small marina. There is nothing else there. Mantarays no long offer a complimentary shuttle bus service into Exmouth. The rooms are nice. The gym is very small. If there are kids making a noise in the pool, the whole hotel knows it. The only restaurant the hotel has, does serve excellent food. Breakfast is basic but adequate. The staff are young and friendly.Don't expect to be spoilt or pampered. Mantarays is in a small town, it's not like a posh hotel in a city. Luckily there are plenty of nice restaurants and some friendly bars in Exmouth.

Ok experience but doesn't offer value for money and staff need training

    rating25 Mar 2026

We stayed here for 5 nights, and while the hotel is good, there is room for improvement, particularly in their service. We booked an extra night at the last minute, and when we asked to merge the bookings, they said no, made us check out at 10 am, and told us to come back at the 2 pm check-in time. We understood we would need to move rooms, but they refused to let us stay in the current room until the new room was cleaned, as it wasn't their "procedure". Whilst they said they would prioritise our new room, we still had to wait just over 3 hours and couldn't get access until just after 1 pm (and we had to call them to check if it was ready - they weren't forthcoming). We were left feeling like an inconvenience rather than a paying guest (and given the quantum you pay, we would expect a much better guest experience). The rooms are a decent size, but a little tired, and the cleaning could have been a little better. The beach location is fantastic, as was the view from the outdoor dining area. The pool is good, but there is little shade. And people "saved" their sunbeds, which was annoying given the lack of shade in the very hot sun (if you're not there swimming, the hotel shouldn't allow people to leave the pool area and couple back a few hours later). The restaurant was good, though the staff could use more hospitality training. Be sure to have a car as you'll need it to get around. Overall, we didn't feel it represented value for money, and staff really need more training.

    Service experience disappointment

    rating02 Mar 2026

Reception staff was very unhelpfull and uninforned, even rude. I found out about the hotel shuttle service to the center through the ningaloo information center, even though i was livibg at the mantaray. Very disappointed by their service. Great rooms. No complaints on the cleanliness. Reet of the staff was good other than that at the reception

Excellent place to stay and the best place in Exmouth

    rating29 Jan 2026

We stayed in a two bed bungalow with hot tub overlooking the beach. The apartment was superb with excellent facilities including brilliant bbq and outdoor seating area. Bedroom was great and bed and linen was top notch.Needs a few improvements in areas where it’s becoming a bit worn. Also very poor/no information in the room about restaurant and other facilities etc (we didn’t eat there and used the bbq). The local IGA shops are superb so it’s easy to self cater. An excellent place to stay.

The best place to stay in Exmouth

    rating10 Jan 2026

Overall, Mantarays was a great place to stay and the best available in Exmouth. The most basic room was great (clean, in good condition) with great air conditioning and comfortable beds. The main building was design well, pool area was great, location was close to the beach and the marina. The staff were friendly and professional, provided a good service and created a good atmosphere. There were a few areas where it could be improved. 1. The shuttle bus needs to run longer hours. Mantarays is about an hour walk to town. There is no public transport or even a taxi in off season (ie. summer). Normally this is possibly not an issue. However, in summer, it can regularly get to high 40 degrees Celsius and whilst we were there, the airport recorded 50 degrees Celsius. 2. Restaurant food quality could be improved. It has limited offerings, all at high prices). Because there is no opposition close by. Whalers Restaurant is very good and the closest restaurant that is open normal hours (many restaurants close for the off season)If staying at Mantarays, which I would recommend, ensure that you have a car whilst staying here if coming in summer.
