  Second time in prison - and I'm happy to return a third time

  At YHA Fremantle Prison, you have the chance to sleep in old cells of the Fremantle Women's Prison, or if that's too spooky for you, you can go for an ordinary room with prison flair. I stayed at the cells, first in the newly renovated downstairs cells. They come with a bunk bed, a table, and two chairs. Your windows are just like in prison: small and beneath the ceiling, so you can't escape/look out. The bunks and the pillows are new and comfortable. These cells are accessible. I also had some nights upstairs in the "older" cells; they are the same as downstairs, just have been used longer, and you get some sunlight into your cell. There are bathrooms located in the cells, as well as next to the kitchen. Some of the dorms have their own bathroom. The hostel has a spacious kitchen with everything you need, as well as a community area. Dining is possible inside and outside. The prison yard offers chess, table tennis, and volleyball. When you're lucky, there is a concert at the hostel at Fremantle Prison, and you get to hear everything for free. Freo Markets is less than a 5-minute walk away, Freo City is less than ten, and within fifteen minutes, you're at Bathers Beach for some stunning sunset moments. You get young backpackers as well as older travelers, the vibe is relaxed, and it's obvious the staff enjoys their work as well, which makes staying here even more comfortable. Kudos to the management on-site for that and for having the award-winning cleaners in their team. I surely will return one day, as for a writer, this is a very inspiring place to stay.

  Great hostel located in part of the old prison, one block from everything Fremantle. Loads of different types of accommodation - we take private room with en-suite. Huge fully equipped kitchen. Good WiFi if you get the app, basic WiFi w/o app. We will return.   Would rather sleep in a cage and have my food thrown to me with a catapult Loudest place ever, terrible rooms and the air conditioning wasn’t great. The shower was good.Good location and nice staff but the facilities just weren’t up to standard

  A perfect visit for a morning or afternoon and recommend the guided tour as the guides are both informative and amusing.The site has limited facilities but adequate for a short visit.In summer the site is hot so take water on the tour as it’s one way and no going back.Overall a good value for money attraction.   Great value for money in well maintained and clean family room with ensuite and all other mod cons. The hostel is centrally located to the pubs and restaurants of the capuchino strip and Freo markets. All common areas were modern and clean. Would certainly stay there again.
