    Not up to the usual standard for a Rydges hotel

    First the good points. The hotel was well situated and walking distance to the cat buses and the train station. The rooms were quite spacious with modern facilities. The king-sized bed was very comfortable and the hotel offered several types of pillows. Elena makes beautiful specialist coffees, although not included in the breakfast price.There were several areas that need improvement. The hotel mixed up my bookings several times resulting in me having to phone them on multiple occasions. The rooms were not fully serviced so toilet rolls and tissues were not replenished. If we asked for extra at reception, housekeeping took them away in the morning! The dining area had very limited seating so it could be difficult to get a table for breakfast, or for our party of 4 to eat together. Although it was buffet style, the food was basic, and the hot food was placed out of reach for many people. The food was not replenished properly eg bacon ran out, pastries ran out, sausages still strung together. The late checkout I requested had not been entered into their system despite confirmation emails. I would expect the standard of spoken English of many customer-facing staff to be better as it caused some communication difficulties.In summary, it was not up to the usual standard of the Rydges brand, but could mostly be fixed with better staff training. I’m not sure how to fix the very small breakfast area.     Nice ambience, comfy room, responsive staff, and a fine complementary breakfast. Definitely recommend. Comparably cheaper but better quality of services and amenities. Will certainly check back.     It was near the train station, so we love the location. The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly. However, there was a farty smell in the room everytime we head out, and come back. Not sure what it was. Also, it was a bit hot in the room that I had to request for a fan. The aircon was not strong enough for my liking. We would stay again, but maybe in a different room.
