  Stayed for 5 nights in March. Room was very tired and needed a deep clean - Curtains hanging off the rail, dust, missing net curtain, spotlight out, chipped paintwork, significant water damage to vanity unit in bathroom, only socket for the kettle was on the floor. I mentioned it on my first day and some things were addressed but it still needed a serious deep clean. I was offered the option to move but was told my new room might not be any better. It's an old building, but there's no excuse for poor housekeeping and a lack of general maintenance and upkeep. Location is great but other than that I'd avoid. Staff seemed disinterested. No smiles or hellos when you came and went.GF food available at Deli Gabe but only discovered this on my last day!   The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, easy access via train from the Airport and centrally located for sightseeing. That's the good things! Now for the not so good. Upon arrival they want you pay for the room upfront (I've never had to do that in any hotel I have booked direct with anywhere) and they also add a surcharge for using a credit card which you don't notice until you see the receipt and is not mentioned on any of the paperwork I got before arrival. Next the rooms. They are a very shabby, a bit dirty and there were small cockroaches in the shower! As soon as noticed I asked reception for a different room or the shower drain to be sprayed asap but neither happened so I got spray and did it myself and got a pack of antibacterial wipes to clean bathroom and room as much as I could! The staff on reception were seemed very nice & helpful but nothing actually ever got done. Thank goodness we were only there a couple of days and not a long stay. If they buck their ideas up it would be a great place but they are clearly just after money and not interested in customer satisfaction.   We were staying on a Saturday night. The proximity to the city centre and restaurants is perfect. We were able to walk down to Elizabeth Quay for the ferry with luggage with no problems after checking out. The room was spotlessly clean. It was a reasonable size with a queen sized bed which was comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities and a small mini sized fridge. The wi-fi was great. The bathroom was spacious, except the shower space. The shower screen is a fixed frame with a door and in a bathtub. This meant stepping over the bathtub through the frame. Bit of a duck and hurdle motion. The bathtub is tight. Larger people are going to struggle to take a shower. Shower pressure was good. The room had windows which opened and was great first thing in the morning for fresh air.The hotel corridors have character you don’t find in other hotels. There is a small lift. The hotel locks the front door from 6pm and they provide a key for guests to enter after this time.I was disappointed to be woken constantly throughout the night by the hordes of people sitting along the gutter across the road. I am not sure if there is a night club nearby or the kebab shop up the road has a huge fan base, but the crowd was enormous. They had finally left by 5am and we had to be up at 7am for a ferry. I know this is not the hotel’s fault, but having paid $400 for the room, I am not sure this hotel would be my first choice in the city next time we visit. Definitely not on a Saturday night. I was so tired, I struggled to function properly after lunch on the day of departure.Staff both at check in and check out were very professional and friendly and we did mention the outside noise at check out, so staff are aware we did not sleep well.   Avoid at all costs

  Stayed at European hotel on the 27th February, arrived from the UK for business and checked in, reception staff was polite and friendly and was handed keys and went to room, my honest review is the sheets were clean and the room basic and dated, on entering the bathroom the smell of stale urine was overwhelming, complained nothing was done, complained again to management nothing was done, very expensive for what it was when there’s lovely hotels in Perth, I don’t waste my time on reviews normally just wanted to make people aware.   We loved our stay at The European Hotel, located in the heart of Perth. Walking distance to restaurants, public transport and city stores. It has a real European charm.
