    A hidden gem!

    rating04 Apr 2026

We stayed 5 nights over the Easter break at the Sebel Creswick as a family of 4. I was a little anxious as there weren’t many recent reviews on the property but I was so pleasantly surprised when we arrived to see that the apartment was just like the photos on the website. It has clearly recently been refurbished and has a modern country vibe. The apartment had two large identical bedrooms each with a nice ensuite. Each bedroom had a large and deep bath, large TV, balcony and air conditioning. One bedroom had a king bed and the other a king that could be split into two singles. There also appeared to be a sofa bed downstairs to accommodate up to 6 people. The lounge area had a large, comfortable couch, large TV with foxtel and ability to stream apps from your device. The gas log fireplace is a beautiful feature and nice to have on whilst watching a movie on the couch in the colder weather. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook meals, a large fridge, dishwasher and even a filtered water tap. A full laundry was adjacent to the kitchen and had an additional toilet. As for the location, it is 2 minutes from the town of Creswick which has several nice pubs, a large supermarket, bakery and takeaway shops. It’s 15 mins to the centre of Ballarat and 25 mins to Daylesford. In my opinion, the location is excellent to explore this beautiful area.It should be noted that this property is essentially a row of townhouses/apartments and that is all. There is no other facilities, no check-in desk, etc. There is a number to call if you have any problems. And the apartment is only cleaned upon checkout. On that note, my only fault is some parts of the apartment weren’t entirely clean such as there were a lot of cobwebs on the wooden paneling above the beds, there was moldy grout in the showers and you could see the air conditioning units all needed their filters cleaned as they were filthy.Luckily there was no need to use them during our stay. Besides only that tiny negative, everything else appeared clean and tidy. All up, we had a wonderful stay. It’s a shame we probably won’t have the need to return to this area in the near future as I certainly would love to stay here again.

    Perfect in every way

We stayed for a week, including 3 nights as 4 adults and 2 children. The apartment is large and very well set up. We played golf, used the driving range and went for a few lovely walks with kangaroos and rabbits to amuse the kids! Creswick is close and has good coffee etc. And Ballarat is just 10 minutes drive.

    Great kangaroo-spotting location

This is a great place if you want to visit "country Victoria" without a long journey from Melbourne. The units themselves are excellent (2 bedrooms, each with balcony bath and shower, separate laundry, decent kitchen...). Despite the name, there are no resort facilities, but we knew that in advance, so it wasn't an issue for us. There were a few maintenance issues in the unit that I trust will be resolved.

Very nice modern and cosy townhouse

Stayed 3 nights at this townhouse. Location 15 min from Ballarat town. Very nice and modern 2br townhouse in a complex. Check in check out was very easy, they guide you a day before on how to collect the key. This is like a home, very nice, lots of seating area, large dining table, modern kitchen, good sized bedroom, modern bathroom and big backyard with outdoor seating. Will definitely stay here again if in the area

Great place to stay , perfect for our needs

    rating07 Dec 2023

We have just had a week here and it was perfect for what we wanted to do in the area. Two bedroom, two bathroom villa, great kitchen with all you need, very comfortable living areas.Bedrooms are upstairs as are the bathrooms, bedrooms have balcony's to sit out if you wish but no furniture, not a problem just took a chair from downstairs. There is a outside sitting area out from the kitchen with furniture.A real bonus is that each bathroom / bedroom has a big bath.Takes just under 30 minutes to walk into the Main Street of Creswick, only about 4minutes to drive , very handy position.Right next door to the RACV Goldfields resort, we had many a good walk around the course and beyond, there you will encounter lots of kangaroos and birdlife every day .Another bonus is the bus stop out the front on the main road to Ballarat. We caught the bus into Ballarat and back on two different days, a very pleasant ride of about 20 minutes, it goes once an hour, times are at the bus stop, just use your Myki card if you have one , they do not accept payment for a ticket on the bus .Only one problem we had was the wifi kept cutting out about every 2 hours or whenever you turned your device off, it was very annoying. It was easy to login but who wants to keep logging in every time you go to use your device. There is nobody on site so when you ring the number it goes to the Sebel in Melbourne, they basically said there was nothing they could do about it.It is something they need to address as when we stayed there a couple of years ago we never had the problem, maybe it is a problem in Villa 5 where we were.Apart from that we had a great week, it is a good place to base yourself when visiting the area.
