  Clean comfy and well located overnighter

  Booked directly as an overnighter going to and from Sydney out of Melbourne. We booked the better rooms just because we could and found them to be spotlessly clean and very spacious. Almost too spacious - with lots of empty space in the room to enjoy. Parking was undercover for us ( better room perk) but I’m sure the standard rooms also have parking outside but not under cover- perhaps a winter frost consideration. The better rooms front onto the street with a little balcony looking out onto the park and picnic area across the road. We didn’t find traffic noise to be a problem (it’s a country town after all) and got used to people walking past on the footpath which is screened by a hedge.Plenty of choices for dining out close by - if you want cheap and cheerful Woolworths is almost next door, get a pre prepared chilled meal and zap it in the microwave in the room. We walked up the street to the Criterion Hotel for drinks and evening meals which were all very good. There is an RSL just past the Woolies which has an Asian fusion restaurant. Other choices during the day, are walking distance, including the Niagara Cafe and Coffee Pedelar, whom we visited for breakfasts.

  Our twin deluxe room was impeccibly clean and well maintained. We had a good nights' sleep on the confortable bed and in the quiet surrounds. Very centrally located with a 2 minute walk to restaurants and cafes.

  Good Motel in an ideal location

  We recently stayed at the Gabriel during a very busy race weekend in Gundagai.It is in a great location in the Main Street, close to the club and both major hotels. You can catch a courtesy bus to and from the racecourse and then easy walking access to the night spots over the weekend. The motel is clean and tidy and all you would ever want for a short stay in Gundagai.
